2 Corinthians 3:18
So all of us who have have that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord -- who is the Spirit -- makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. NLT
In our Christian journey, have we ever stopped for awhile, think things over and asked ourselves, "Am I doing things for God's glory?"
GLORY - refers to the beauty, power, or honor; a quality of God's character that emphasizes His greatness and authority.
3 Senses of Glory in the Bible:
> God's moral beauty and perfection of character
> God's moral beauty and perfection as a visible presence
To live for His glory, we should...
I. BE BRIGHT: Aim to glorify God.
A. Guard your mind.
Romans 12:2 - Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. NIV
> We can control our thoughts; Our feelings come from our thoughts.
B. Guard your heart.
2 Corinthians 3:1-3 - 1Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? 2You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. 3You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. NIV
C. Guard your tongue.
2 Corinthians 3:4-6 - 4Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. 5Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. NIV
II. BE A LIGHT: Live to glorify God.
A. Guard your testimony.
2 Corinthians 3:2-3 - 2You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. 3You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. NIV
B. Guard your treasure.
Matthew 6:21 - 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. NIV
