Just ran across a verse and was struck by the power it holds for us as Musical Worship Leaders.
Amos 5:23-24 (NLT)
23 Away with your hymns of praise! They are only noise to my ears. I will not listen to your music, no matter how lovely it is. 24 Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, a river of righteous living that will never run dry.
I want Him to hear my musical offerings, but have I abandoned the pursuit of justice and righteousness in my life while playing songs that glorify Him? Does anyone else see the hypocrisy in that? This reminds me of another verse...
Isaiah 29:13 (NIV)
13 And so the Lord says, "These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. And their worship of me amounts to nothing more than human laws learned by rote."
"God please convict me of injustice and unrighteousness in my life."
