Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation. They exult in your righteousness. You are their glorious strength. Our power is based on your favor. Psalm 89:15-17 (NLT)
It's a wonderful thing to know who you are in Christ. It's good to know you belong to Him. Some of us can stop reading right here because we've been through some things in our walk with the Lord; painful things, bad choices, temptations, haters, you name it. I'm talking about situations or circumstances that would have destroyed us had we not known that God created us for a purpose. The Psalmist said, "I almost slipped. . ." (Psalm 73:2, NIV). In the Body of Christ there is a group of people that goes to church just because it's Sunday. But there is another group that gathers on Sunday to worship God. This group understands what the Psalmist knew; those who answer the call to worship God walk in the light of His presence. These worshipers rejoice all day because they know something about God's character, they understand our strength does not lie in our human devices, but in God. The power that we have is based on His favor. I hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit to change somebody's perspective between now and Sunday morning. Take today's passage with you as you move through the day. God has called us all to be worshipers; that's all they do in heaven. Why not choose to experience heaven on earth as we gather on Sunday? But you don't have to wait until Sunday! Worship Him now!
