Okay, it's here. That's not a warning; it's a reminder. Spiritual warfare is a normal part of our Christian experience. It isn't just now getting here, and it isn't some new discovery - the scriptures bear witness to this fact. Nor is it contingent upon who you are, how much money you make, how creative you may be, or how long you've been walking with the Lord. Spiritual warfare is REAL, and there is nothing we can do to escape it. Today's Isaiah text says, "when," not "if." We know with a certainty that the enemy is pursuing us. But what do we do?
First, know that the enemy is coming. Second know that the battle is not yours to fight, but God's The battle belongs to Him and He has given us spiritual weapons to fight a spiritual battle. Don't try to fight on your own. This is one of the reasons it is so important to make praise and worship part of our daily lives; and not just on Sunday! Spiritual warfare goes on every day of the week, including Sunday, quiet as it's kept! When we keep the praises of God on our minds, in our hearts, speak praise out of our mouths, and fortify our spirits with praise, the enemy is GOING to come, but he can't whip us because we've been careful to keep God the focus in every area of our lives. Sing praise! Speak praise! Feed your spirit with the praises of God! Strengthen your spirit with prayer, and with private as well as public worship. Jesus died and rose so we would win the battle. And he gave us weapons, but we've got to us them.
