As I write, there are wars raging, children starving, and people dying yet God reigns. Its easy for us to be persuaded from this truth because our perception is often hindered by these temporal distractions. However, the eternal truth of the matter is that God reigns in holy sovereignty over His creation.
The majority of you see the number eight as you look at the picture above, but the rest of you see just a random assortment of spots because you, like me, are color blind. Though we perceive there to be no eight the truth of the matter is there is indeed an eight.
To address the question of "why does a good God let bad things happen to good people?" I can only point you to the cross. That great and powerful paradox that "opens our eyes and blinds those who say they can see."*
Consider this: "That Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!"
To the world such a sacrifice is madness and those who would claim that sacrifice are fools.
"Look, if someone wrote a play just to glorify what's stronger than hate,
would they not arrange the stage to look as if the hero came too late
As if he's almost in defeat, It's looking like the Evil side will win,
So on the Edge of every seat, from the moment that the whole thing began
It was love that made the mortar
It was love that stacked these stones
It was love that made the stage here
And made it feel like we're alone
In some scene set in shadows
Like the night is here to stay
There is evil cast around us
But it's love that wrote this play..."**
