I was working aroung the house the other day while my little girl watched a program on PBS called "Super Why" ... it's a fun little show that teaches letters, words and reading that she really gets into. I had been pondering many spiritual things in my tiny mind that morning as I struggled to fully awaken to the day. At one moment the show was focusing on the spelling of the word SING. As in most pre-school shows, each letter was posted with fan fare and a significant pause to allow the young…

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. - Hebrews 10:24
How often do you tell your family you love them? How many times, in rushing out of the house, do you just manage a quick "BYE!"?
My daughter started this new thing a few years back. I truly believe it was God working through her. She started saying "love you!" every time she talked to us on the phone, or left the house. I asked her why one day (since it wasn't…

...posting blog entries, that is...I guess I should start out with a little about myself. I don't have a very exciting life - I'm a wife, mother, and all the other job descriptions that go along with those two things - I am blessed with two great kids - and so honored that God has given me and my husband the awesome responsibility of taking care of them while they are on this earth. Now that they are older (14 and 16) life seems to go at warp speed. Everyone told me "enjoy them while they are…

James Taylor has it. Stevie Wonder has it. Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell ooze with it. The deft and creative touch of pianists Lyle Mays (with the Pat Metheny group), and arranger/composer/conductor Dave Grusin sparkle with it. Violinists Itsak Perlman and Isaac Stern and Mark O’Conner have it. Take 6 musical arranger Mervyn Warren has it.
Musical genuis? Yes to all of the above, but that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about authenticity. That quality of honesty and realness…

I was listening to an old PODcast from Holy Trinity Brampton today, and Mike Pilavachi was speaking. He was describing how he views faith. (This is a paraphrase, but you get the idea.) Faith is standing on the diving board of a pool and realizing that there is no water in the pool. I would stop and say to God, "God, fill the pool with water and I will dive in." But God replies, "Dive into the pool and trust that by the time you get there, I will have filled the pool with water." Faith is always…

As a drummer I have been looking for my own creative outlet for music. I have really been enjoying sample based music lately. Programs like Garage band, Acid or just creating your own sample based music with a DAW program. It's given me a better "focus" on the music and not just the drums. I feel it's helped me to be a better listener to what is going on in the music.
There is not much out there in Christian circles for the electronic/ambient genre of sample based music. I would like to…

Two pilots in a microlight were literally flying on a wing and a prayer when their fuel ran out - and it seemed that divine intervention took a hand in bringing them down safely.

We would like to start to build a resource area where you can find articles related to worship. We will then tie in discussions specifically related to these articles.
If you would like to write a short (or not so short!) article that can be used on 'Worship The Rock' then please go ahead!
Topics that you might like to write about could include:
- Leading Worship: Practicalities

There is a church on my way to work that has a sign in front that they put different little sayings on. Right now it says, "Beware the bareness of a busy life." So true, but I think I would take a step further. "Beware the barrenness of a busy life." We live in a hectic world. If we aren't doing 3 things at once we must be lazy. But we need to set aside time (and I am preaching to myself as much as anyone else) to spend time alone with God. No distractions of any kind. No TV, no video games, no…

Perhaps it never made it onto your radar screen before... this unusual sacrifice-requirement God demanded of his followers for the atonement of sin: a perfect, first-born male. Why did the sacrifice have to be perfect (without blemish or defect)? What was the significance of the first-born male? Why not the second or third? Why not a female?
The request would make little sense to anyone outside of the faith. After all, a sacrifice is a sacrifice, isn't it? Does one sacrifice mean…

Note: A friend from my weekly Bible study sent me a very encouraging e-mail this week. It reminded me that although I may not always receive acknowledgement for my efforts to encourage others in their walk of faith, God is watching. He sees and knows I am trying my best. So, on occasion, he sends me a postcard from Heaven through another person, just to say "I AM with you."
This poem was a response to God's postcard from Heaven this week.
Just… Continue

Driving into work a while back I was listening to a Steven Curtis Chapman song called - My Last Day on Earth. The chorus has the following lines:
If this should be my last day on this earth How then shall I live?
It really got me thinking and challenged me. If I honestly knew that today was going to be my last day on earth what would I do differently? How would I live? What would I say to people? What wouldn't I say to people?
I'm convinced that I would do…

Sabbath is a time of rest which God created for man, & not, man being created for Sabbath (see Mark 2:27). During Sabbath, we are to rest from the hectics we've been through the past 6 days. We are to be refreshed in God's presence, rejoicing & thanking God for how He's brought us through the 6 days. That is the main purpose of Sabbath.
Some people says Sabbath is on Sunday, some say Saturday. What about those people working on Saturdays & Sundays? Those serving in…
