Most of us are familiar with Michael W. Smith’s “Agnus Dei.” For as long as I’ve sung this song, the lyric “Are you Lord God Almighty?” has provoked me to think about how much of my life is truly given over to God.
Is the Lord God really my ALL IN ALL? I think that for those of us who are blessed to live in the Western world, it is difficult to separate God from the material possessions that become idols to us. We think of God as the one who:
Supplies all of our needs… Continue

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I fully enjoy, support, and am constantly challenged (in a good way) by the Senior Pastor at Christ Fellowship Worship Center, Mike Hoke.
I am really pumped about reading his first published work about Ehud, as I saw this book develop over a number of years. It is about principles of spiritual warfare.
I will include the link if you would like to check it out.… Continue

How many of us have such busy lives that we seem to find ourselves going through each day, as if, they are all the same? Man! I think there is something going on almost every night and day of the week! I feel like I don't have anytime for myself, and if I did, I wouldn't know how to use it. Don't get me wrong, I love my church and there is nothing that I love more than to lead worship. It's really the daily routines, the everyday stuff! Getting the kids off to school, house work, regular work,… Continue

"You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish..."
"You can tune a radio
, but you can't tuna fish..."
Same joke, different venue [grin]
I'm sure that we'd all agree that a miss tuned radio is annoying, as is a badly tuned musical instrument.
As some of you know, in my (limited) leisure time, I am an amateur (ham) radio operator
. There are times when I'm trying to… Continue

Personally I love this worship song ... No! not because I wrote it, but whenever I start out my 'special time' with the Lord, I love singing this song. He's never failed to show up. This song is also kinda special to me personally. I was at a stage where I couldn't handle not being in the presence of God anymore. I was still working in the secular and another part of me knew my place is suppose to be in full-time ministry. I was so far away from the things of God, I was ashamed of even calling… Continue

Man, this picture is a blast from the past! The goofy looking toe-head is me, and the kid with spiky mullet is my big brother. We were rocking out the leisure suits in '88. It seems weird to say this picture is twenty years old, but it is.
I am asking everyone out there in BlogLand to please pray for my brother. No, unfortunately the problem isn't that he is still suffering from this tragic hair. It's something far more serious.
He has… Continue

It's that time of year. Christmas. "It's the most ... wonderful time .... of the year".
There was some discussion the last couple of days on the "Sunday Setlists" post
about the usage of Christmas Carols during corporate worship.
I sort of let the cat out of the bag when I said that I don't get super excited about doing them. I mean ... I love the… Continue

So my friend Linda from Australia has tried to get me on this site for a long time. I never even checked it out. Then Saturday out of the blue someone called me because they found Linda on this site and Linda told them about me, and to make a long story short it was a divine appointment that I heard from Andrea. So, I came and signed up because it seems like God was pointing me to do that.
I'm very surprised how many "welcomings" I've had and how many friends have sent requests… Continue

How Do We Sing/Speak Spiritual Songs To One Another?

Being what many people might call a (gasp) fundamentalist, I am probably in a very minority position in today's post-modern church, and especially as concerns the topic of the Emerging Church. I am writing some of my thoughts here in response to a brother who asked me about my position on the EC, and the message reply box didn't have enough room to answer.
I believe that the Bible needs to be read with a strictly literal interpretation - God said what He meant and meant what… Continue

Well I was spring cleaning some of my boxes and discovered some really old folders. Inside there were songs I've written that never really got recorded or played. Some of it I thought were quite ok. But I'll leave it to you to be the judge of it. Thank God for my wonderful wife though. I'm hopeless at keeping things. I've written so many songs before and I think I've lost at least 30% of it. Anyways, if you like these older songs, do leave note of thanks to my wife Christina for keeping it for… Continue

Here is the first step to something I'm writing:
You are firelight in dark
You are burning in my heart
You are the air that I breathe
You are everything
Hope and grace
Such Mercy for me
You are Power
Strength and Glory
You are love
You are love, Jesus
You are love
You are blood inside my veins
You are the one who bled to save
You are the melody I sing
You are everything

Life has been blessed and awesome as always. On the 15th of this month, I am flying to Nashville, Tennessee for a job interview at a government-run medical facilty. This has been sort of unexpected because I had applied for this position about 3 months ago and I haven't heard from the facility until last week when they scheduled me for this upcoming event. My wife and I always wanted to live in Nashville because we have family that reside there. I don't know how this interview will play in our… Continue

This afternoon was our city's annual Christmas Parade. Our church has always played a big part when it comes to getting involved in our community. We usually have a float and a train that we put the small kids in and many of us walk throwing candy and trinkets. I've posted some new pictures up for you to look at. It's just our way of being a part of the community and celebrating Christmas with them and not staying behind the walls of our church.

Recently it was heavily laid on my heart to begin an Alternative Worship Service, run by a new Alternative Worship Team. Now, my church has always tried to be in tune with the leading edge of what Spirit is doing "now", so the Service was an easy sell...But also being a smallish church with a real strain on the small Worship Community, finding "band members" was going to be a real challenge.
Working up song lists, I'm finding useful music by all sorts of bands not… Continue
