Another day in the life...

I got to spend some time today with best-not-related friend in the whole wide world, Wade. He'd mentioned a few days ago that we needed to hang out more, and I agreed. So after a long and boring day with obviously not enough to do, I let him know that today was the day to do aforementioned "hanging out". So despite the fact that he was nearly home from work, he grabbed his guitar from the house, met me at the church, and we proceeded to play guitar. Good times.

I think I'd like to go… Continue

Skill and Responsibility

This morning as I was reading through the Word, I came to the passage where David and the Levites are bringing the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem. (This was attempt #2 after the EpicFail oxcart incident.) They were making quite a worship celebration of this. In the midst of the descriptions of who was blowing trumpets and who was crashing cymbals and so on, on verse caught my eye. In 1 Chronicles 15:22… Continue

Word Like Fire Episode 12: How Long (Psalm 13)

Download/stream the podcast here: Episode 12: How Long (Psalm 13)

This week’s song is a paraphrase of Psalm 13- an honest cry to the Lord when he feels distant, at the same time recognizing his faithfulness and love.

How Long (Psalm 13)

How long, O Lord

Will there be silence?… Continue

What about Jesus ?

I have seen quite a few new church buildings going up around the town where I live. These are not your run of the mill churches either. These places are spending lots of money on their fancy buildings but little to no money on actually witnessing to the lost. The are focused more on how many seats are in the church than on how many people are coming in and getting saved. And these churches have become extremely judgemental, they have rules and standards that must be met before you can become a… Continue

Waiting for the Rain...

For some reason, I've been thinking of what is now an older song, written in 1995 (or so the teens in the worship team I'm in tell me). The song is Matt Redman's "Find Me In The River". I've been especially thinking about 2nd half of the chorus:

Find me on my knees with my soul laid bare

Even though your gone and I'm cracked and dry

Find me in the river, I'm waiting here.

I liken this Kathryn Scott's "Hungry" and even a older Maranatha song, Martin… Continue

Good day today.

Working on "Souled Out" by Hezekiah Walker today. Also working on "Mighty God" by Trent Cory, et al and "I'm Redeemed". Got lots of music coming at me all of a sudden, really causing me to stretch out. Also took a mini seminar called "You Are A Songwriter" by Darrell Evans, got me writing some now and keeping a journal and a audio recorder with me at all times. God is good.

Can you BELIEVE that happened in a CHURCH SERVICE??

Hey Everyone,

Every week thousands of us lead worship or attend worship services somewhere in this world. Our worship services are diverse – from the liturgies, the music, and the presentation of God’s Word. What happened in YOUR CHURCH SERVICE?

One of the best ways to be inspired and get creative ideas for your worship services (in addition to praying, of course!) is to get a glimpse of what others are doing in their… Continue

I will bless the LORD at all times;

His praise shall continually be in my mouth"

Psalm 34:1

Thank God for corporate praise when we gather together. It helps us to get among a body of believers as we celebrate and magnify the name of the Lord. There is also a personal private praise which lifestyle worshipers must not neglect. The reason for this is that until we come to the place where we can really enter into that private, personal praise, just between you and the… Continue
