Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt

"On January 1, 2000--just 9 months away--we'll take a deep breath and hope our banks, utilities, and government took the right steps to protect us from a potential nightmare. How will your phone system behave that morning?"

These are the opening lines to a letter I unearthed while cleaning out a file cabinet I inherited along with my day job as an IT network admin. One of my predecessors had filed it away more than ten years ago, and it had never been discarded. It's hard to… Continue

Lincoln Brewster

Wow, being that I am a musical product of the 80s and of bands such as Stryper and White Cross I am now a really big fan of Lincoln Brewster. Can that boy rock on the old six string or what? My next "must get" CD is his "Today Is The Day" CD. It's awesome that God still has a place for us "hair band" kids - lol.

My thoughts this fine day

I love that we get to do this. I am certain that everyone of us where 100 hats, have 2000 other responsibilities, never feel like we have the time to REALLY devote to our worship team, feel like the wave is riding us instead of us riding the way - but TODAY is mine. I love this.

I was texting a friend of mine this morning about things and he asked me a question -

"Gotta a big day today?"

I thought about it before I answered - my first thought response was "yeah… Continue

Let's all clap together... and declare the victory of our God!

Well Sunday (May 24th) will again by my team's spot in the worship rotation, and we're planning on on doing the song There Is A Louder Shout To Come by Matt Redman. Our pastor will be doing a sermon on eternity and that heavily influenced my selection of this song.

However, what was interesting is that we've been collectively trying to see if we can invite more inspiring worship at our church. As a somewhat conservative Chinese Baptist Church, I believe culturally speaking,… Continue

More on Brian McClaren and the Emerging Church

"[B]eloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?" II Peter 3:1-4

Episode 5: Take My Life

A new version of an old hymn- Take My Life and Let it Be, by Frances Havergal.

The text:

Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to thee.

Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise

Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love

At the impulse of thy love.

Take my lips and let them be filled with…

Episode 4: Fountain of Grace

A song about total reliance on God, Christ taking our burdens of sin, doubt, worry, and death, and sustaining us by his blood- the fountain of grace. It is a recognition of the doubt and fear that I still live with, and a prayer for greater faith.

Fountain of Grace

I need to lose myself to find you

Letting my burdens fall off

Feeling the freedom of dependence

On your assurance and call

I pray to release

My life to your…

Episode 3: Love Divine

This song's theme is unity by the work of the Spirit in the Body of Christ- taking weak, sinful humans and transforming them into one body that died to sin with Christ, and was raised to life to be an instrument of God’s love.

The lyrics:

Love Divine

Spirit weave our bones together,

We are worn and lie in death

Build us back into a temple

By your life reviving breath.

Christ our covenant, our Savior,

Help us all to take your…

New song - Invisable Children

I've just uploaded a new song, once again just a rough first take, but you get the jist.

I wrote this song, after being deeply moved by the children soldiers in Northern Uganda. Abducted, and turned into soldiers from as early an age as 7 years old, before they can even read or write. Joseph Kony heads up the LRA (Lords Resistance Army) Which is a rebel army, fighting without cause.

I find that the reason we don't act in these situations, or more than likely even hear… Continue
