“How Great Thou Art”

He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End!

He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all!

He is the Architect of the universe and

The Manager of all times.

He always was, He always is, and He always will be . . .

Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!

He was bruised and brought healing!

He was pierced and eased pain

He was persecuted and brought freedom!

He was dead and brought life!

He is risen and brings… Continue

So today I was listening to the radio and I heard the song WE ARE THE WORLD which was originally written by Michael Jackson. Well as most of you know that song was recently redid by a whole bunch of artist as a way to help raise money for the people of Haiti. First off I gotta say I absolutely love the song it is such a touching song, but as I was listening to it i began to think... WOW all these people, or "ARTISTS" as we call them are gathering together to do this song with one purpose and… Continue

Discovering the Importance of Preparing to Worship

I couldn't decide whether to put this in a "blog" post or what, but felt that I did want to write something about it, somewhere. It's something I knew I should be doing in my head, but hadn't experienced the importance of until this Sunday.

I went to the church 30 mins prior to anyone else arriving for rehearsal and just started to worship. Mostly playing piano. Just worshipping and praying. After about 30 mins, it was crazy - it was like the Holy Spirit was showing up. The…

Disaster or Sign?

Well, this morning was interesting. Leading worship at the Roseboro Church of God, we started out with "I Will Trust in You." After the song was over, which was very good, I went to grab my Ibanez Acoustic-Electric. When I went to put it on, I put the strap around me and Bang!

The guitar strap pops off of the end of the guitar and my plug goes through the guitar. Luckily, no electronic equipment was damaged. I was able to continue on the next song, which is "Open Up the Sky." Just when you… Continue

Just For Fun: A "Mad Libs" for Music Teams

Here is a “Mad Libs” type word game to play with your music team. If you've never played Mad Libs before, it's quite simple. Designate one person to hold the sheet with the “story” and, without revealing the content, ask each person to provide a word that corresponds with part of speech in the blank. After all the words are collected, the story is read back with the given words. The more outlandish the words, the funnier the story. Let me know how it works for…

The True Heart Of Worship

The very first time we find the word "worship" in scripture is Genesis 22:5

Abraham is traveling to Moriah with his son Isaac and two of his servants. After three days journey he saw the place from a distance and said:

Genesis 22:5 Then Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship…

The Best Catch in the World!

"As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow me," Jesus said, 'and I will make you fishers of men.' At once they left their nets and followed him." (Mark 1:16-18, NIV)…

Craig [Dunnagan] also had a bit of advice regarding motivation and attitude. He says,

”Some sincere Christians worry about their motivation in writing songs.

But don’t be afraid to exercise your gift for fear you’re doing it for

the wrong reason, or you may become like the man Jesus told about who

buried his talent and was punished for it. Our motives may vary from

day to day— 80/20, 90/10,…

The Holy Bundle

"For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].

And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]." (…

News Update for February 2010

Dear Family, friends & partners in prayer,

Greetings from a very cold and snow covered Indianapolis, IN.

I just stand amazed how January looked so bleak after dealing with Identity fraud (November) canceled ministry events due to snow blizzards (December) & being laid up in bed sick for two weeks the first part of January looking at an empty calender & shrinking bank account & cupboards.

And yet as I found my faith being tested to really "lean on the… Continue

learning curves....

I recently (June 2009) stepped down as worship pastor at a church and left so that I could help my daughter find a church she could get plugged into. This was a sad time, but not difficult. I would rather see my girls worshiping God with all they are than be a well celebrated worship pastor any where in the world. But you want to know the most frustrating part for me.....re-learning to worship without critiquing the team. : \ I try hard not to get into a critique mode, but I almost always find… Continue

The Nearness of God

Sean Azzaro, my pastor of River City Community Church, upon delivering a message about the vision for 2010 at our church, challenged us to fast one day a week. The challenge was not the main point... in fact, it was more likely a side point, maybe even an after-thought. His message was to the point that perhaps we focus too much on the peripherals of faith, and forget that the most important aspect of Salvation is the Presence of God... Yes, we are saved from the punishment of Sin, and we…
