When you look at your music ministry, worship leading, etc... what is your scale of measurement as you determine if it is successful or not? What would you need to see for you to feel that something…Continue

Nathan Gifford replied to Charles Wolff's discussion 'Compares to You' in the group Songwriter's Circle - Get Song Feedback
"Hey Charles! I think you have a good start here, but you could work further on it in my opinion. The song needs a bridge. Just a simple bridge that you could sit on for a bit and just worship. The music has a bit of a dated feel, but that's…"

Greg Newhouse replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'Music Stands on the Platform'
"One of my biggest hangups about playing the electric guitar for modern worship, I think, has been a mistrust of the established custom, of traditional-isms, of the thing that turns preference into conviction into commandment. We just trade one thing…"

Greg Newhouse replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'Music Stands on the Platform'
"When we impose rules, like "no music stands", or "no amps on stage", is it all because these things are distractions to be remedied, or is there some measure of wanting to create the impression that we are concerned about…"

Greg Newhouse replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'What is your measurement of successful music ministry?'
"So, to answer, "... have you tried calling around ...?" No. If I found a church close by that seemed to be a perfect fit and they were interested, I'd question my motives and their veracity. Besides, leading means singing to many, and…"

"Thanks, Toni.  The funny thing is that I bought the Epiphone SG rather than the Gibson one so that I'd have a less-expensive guitar I wouldn't be afraid to work on, and now I'm afraid to work on this one.Our church council voted…"

Toni replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'What is your measurement of successful music ministry?'
"Hey Charles, it sounds like the nut isn't cut quite deep enough, and the tension caused by pulling the string down to the first fret is just enough to send it sharp. If you're a little nervous of tackling it then it's well worth…"

Nathan Gifford replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'What is your measurement of successful music ministry?'
"Anyone that believes music within the church can only be one set way / style / format is not very familiar with worship as seen throughout the Bible. Whatever style a church typically rolls with, they can't get stuck there. If there is life and…"

Charles Wolff replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'What is your measurement of successful music ministry?'
"After reading this, I decided I should play my dad's '57 Strat for the worship service Sunday morning.  If my (Epiphone) SG would stay in tune like the Strat, I'd play electric a lot more... I've been working on the…"

Greg Newhouse replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'What is your measurement of successful music ministry?'

Charles Wolff replied to Nathan Gifford's discussion 'What is your measurement of successful music ministry?'

Profile Information

Home Church:
Citipointe Church - Northern Colorado
Musical Gift(s):
worship leader, saxophone, keyboards, vocals, songwriting
About Me:
I grew up in the church as a PK (Pastor’s Kid) and was involved in the worship band from a young age. Growing up, I played saxophone not only in my church, but in various worship bands, events, camps and recording projects. I then graduated from Indiana University School of Music with a performance degree on saxophone. While in college, I began doing some worship leading in my local church, then other churches, then took a full-time music pastor position right after graduating. I served in that capacity (in a few places) for about 8 1/2 years. Then I switched gears and launched my own web development business (which I had done part-time while working in the church). After a brief break, I stepped into a new part-time music pastor position at a church plant and helped grow the church to about 550 members in 8 years. I have recorded 9 live worship CDs and been a part of many others during my 20 years of worship leading experience.

I was very involved in a local worship conference that lead to discussions of how to further and regularly resource and serve local church music ministries. Out of all of it, WorshipReady.com was born. It was created to become the highest quality worship chord chart resource, with direct connection to the iPad OnSong app, and also to build a community and overall worship leader resource. Then in October 2016, I took on the ownership of WorshipTheRock!

My wife and 1 of our 5 kids live in Loveland, CO, where we just moved to summer of 2017. Although not serving presently in a music pastor role, I am looking forward to getting connected in our new city and church!
