"I've bounced around both sides of this issue over time. There are times where focusing on a theme can be effective, but I'd have a hard time saying that it should ALWAYS be done. As you said, I have often found myself in the middle…"

"Yeah, I don't find out until the bulletin MSWord file comes out on Thursday or Friday what the scripture or sermon title are, so I've accepted that there's no way for me to try to tie in with the theme... and I HAVE asked the pastor…"
Just picking up on a comment from elsewhere...I have come across this in quite a few worship leader circles/discussions; when it comes to song selection, the first point of call is asking the pastor/preacher what the theme is for the service and/or sermon and start to shape the songs around that.I tend to actively avoid knowing the theme of the service as I have found that things tend to fall into place when it comes to the service...i.e. there is more often than not something within the songs…See More
"I really like the style of this song. The melody in the verses grabs me. The lyrics ask reflective questions burdened with some doubt. That being said, I hope you'll do a second verse - 4 or 8 lines along with tweaking and…"
"Well, it's Joe's song, he can decide. I felt like "what God has joined" plus "how can we ever learn to love without the old regrets" pointed toward a (failed) romantic relationship and there wasn't anything…"
"I didn't feel that the verses set the song up as about a broken relationship. I read your comment and had to go back and re-read the lyrics. The relationship piece was one line out of all the verse lines... each line giving a different question…"
"I've been thinking about this whole "All things work together" idea a lot lately - this used to be my fave scripture, although I've kinda moved on to other postures of late... here in the US, there's a new TV show called…"

It was so fantastic and it touched so many. this is a very diverse event with even some none English speaking Hispanics. Together we are one - strong, spanning the globe. Thank you so much! It was as if God had you write this for our conference. God has an amazing way of connecting people. God Bless you for your faithfulness. I found out at the conference the speaker, Sister Renee, was listening to the music I had chosen since about May DAILY. Your song was one in her thoughts and heart daily to prepare for this event.
Hi Joe. Don't know if you remember me. About nine months ago I asked for your permission to use your song We are One for our woman's conference here in the USA in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. You gave it and I wanted to send you a couple files taken of 260 women from our District's Women's Conference singing your song. We did it a little faster than your recording and because the chorus of We are One together, we are strong was basically the title of Conference, we sang it at all four services. The women loved it and I have two ladies who may contact you to ask permission to use it at their church in the Chicago Illinois area.
I can't thank you enough for your permission for your song. It was awesome and blessed so many. I hope this video brings you some joy and blessing. It was performed by Myself and three other women, bass, acoustic guitar and keyboards. We are One 9/19/2015We are One2 9/20/15We are One3 9/20/15
