Crimson King - does it work as a congregational worship song?

So as I enjoy writing Christian music in a variety of styles in a hobbyist capacity, I find that the congregational worship song is tough to write properly for congregational singing.  So here is…Continue

Let Go and Know

"Let Go and Know" is a song that I have been working on lately.  It seems to me that it would work as a congregational song, though it may be more of a performance song.   I would greatly appreciate…Continue

About one year ago I started writing a Christmas song that I shared here at the time.  Since then I have expanded the lyrics by adding a second verse, a bridge, and changing up the melody somewhat.…Continue

"Thank you for your thoughts and time listening.   I don't know what kind of recording will get accomplished, but in the meantime, feel free to use and try it out in your church if you are leading worship. "

"There are some really well-phrased lines in here. “Wounded healer”... great picture of our King! I could definitively enter into worship singing this! Well done! Take it to the studio, sir.  God bless"

"Thanks Nathan. Like last year, my reasons not to enter this contest stand. One reason at least with this song is that it needs a better recording, but the other reasons would overrule that anyway. Thanks for listening and your feedback!"

Crimson King - does it work as a congregational worship song?

So as I enjoy writing Christian music in a variety of styles in a hobbyist capacity, I find that the congregational worship song is tough to write properly for congregational singing.  So here is another attempt at writing a suitable worship song, one that I wrote with a local friend of mine (Shelly Head).  The song title, "Crimson King".   Please take a moment to listen to the song at SoundCloud at …See More

"It’s the latter. I wouldn’t overthink the lyrics. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:17that we (corporate) are the temple of God. The song attempts to capture that each one is a piece seemingly worthless on its own but valued by God and built…"

Temple of Broken Pieces

Posting this song for thoughts and advice.  I have shared this song in another songwriting group in the past and I have rewritten it a couple of times but I still feel it could be improved somewhere.   Some questions in my mind:  Would it work as a congregational song in your church?  Is there anything about the song that you would do differently if you were writing it?  Does it flow nicely or is it clunky somewhere?   Is the style and melody appealing?  Do the lyrics make sense?A worktape…See More

Thanks Brian.  I originally wrote and recorded that in the 80's and decided it needed a fresh recording.  I got it done in 2010.  I remember experimenting with micing the amp for the electric off a reflection of a wall.  Not sure it really made any difference but was fun to try.  I actually wrote lyrics for it at one time, but nothing stuck so I kept it an instrumental.
