Hi Folks

I like to pick music to go along with the pastors sermon. We have been working our way through 2 Timothy in the last weeks. Next week we hit 2 Tim 3:

1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
6They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, ...

I'm looking for some uplifting songs that have something like

[VERSE 1]
Oh God
I'm a treacherous, rash and conceited lover of pleasure
I love you as long as it doesn't get in the way of my CSI viewing
Do you think that pastor could put his message on YouTube
So I can fast forward past the serious stuff and keep with the jokes..

Ohhhh
[CHORUS]
....

Suggestions? My wife suggested we do something that KISS or QUEEN put out. (We don't know anything from KISS, and the only QUEEN song I know is "Bicycle Race", so I'm not sure what she was talking about....

(BTW, please don't take this too seriously!!! I'm not anticipating that this posting should cause my removal as a member of WTR in good standing...)
A friend just emailed me this. Randy Stonehill "Shut De Do"...

How about In The Light by DC Talk? Here is the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcXYOoUBG3Y
How about "How Deep the Father's Love For Us".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YV2zMZ-nZ7k

Lyrics:
How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocing voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I knoww that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast inJesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
(REPEAT)
I just love that song.. I think of Romans 5.. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Thank You for the Cross would be perfect. Lyrics are below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZNFq552lCI

"Even when we turned our backs on You
In wickedness and lies suppressed Your truth
Even then You showed Your love for us
Giving up Your life upon the Cross

Chorus:
Jesus thank You for the Cross
For the blood that sets us free
The crimson stain of all our sin
Washed away in Your mercy

Enemies of God with no excuse
Knowing what was right we turned from You
Given up to sin condemned to die
Even then You chose to give us life

Bridge
Every one of us deserves to die
But You save all who hope
Search Me, Know Me, or a song of confession, could be great AFTER the sermon as a response.
