guess it depends on if you have any future plans with your songs (ie. trying to sell or make money from them being recorded or used by others), or if you're content to just put them out there with "no strings attached."   w/out a copyright, someone else could potentially use them (in a film, a CD, commercial, whatever) and gain financially from that use, and you wouldn't get anything. although technically once you write something down or make a recording of it, it's copyrighted.  but it's a lot easier to prove your ownership if the song/lyrics/etc are copyrighted with the US gov.  the cost isn't insiginificant, but the process of filling out and filing isn't too bad.  looks like i'm making a case for official copyright :)   anyways, i copyrighted my songs off my first CD "just in case" someone wanted to use them, then i could recoup some of the cost of recording, etc...  hope that helps...????  -bill

I like your song.. "Run With Me" As far as getting your songs "out there.." I just talk to friends from other churches and offer my self to come bless and minister in music. Now, I'm playing at about four- five churches all over Japan. At the same time, I put a table out with CDs and then next thing you know.. God will bless your foot work. Just stay in prayer, and keep playing every chance you get.
