Matthew 7:24-29 (NIV)
" 'Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.'
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law."

One of my co-workers reviews space plans for compliance with fire and life safety codes.

Yesterday he told me that many of the designs he receives do not comply with the codes.

He looked me straight in the eyes and said "If they design a plan that does not comply with the codes, the structure is not built on a firm foundation."

I looked him straight in the eyes and said "Jesus is the firm foundation. If we do not trust in and obey Him, we have no foundation."

The Holy Spirit is such a good teacher. He shows me the spiritual application in everything I encounter and, when necessary, gives me the words to say. (Mark 13:11, John 16:13; 1 Corinthians 2:13-15)

1Peter 2:7-8 (The Message)

Look! I'm setting a stone in Zion, a cornerstone in the place of honor.
Whoever trusts in this stone as a foundation
will never have cause to regret it.
To you who trust him, he's a Stone to be proud of, but to those who refuse to trust him,

The stone the workmen threw out
is now the chief foundation stone.
For the untrusting it's
.. . a stone to trip over,
a boulder blocking the way.
They trip and fall because they refuse to obey, just as predicted."
