Worship in Spirit and Truth - part 2

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23-24)

I was doing some more reading this morning on the subject of worshipping God in spirit and truth and I had this amazing realization while reading the following verses:

John 8:31-21 "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Truth is a person, Jesus Christ!

So here's my revelation: Worshiping God in spirit means that it must be done from the heart - with a pure, humble, contrite heart. Worshiping God in truth means that my attention must be focused on Jesus - because He is the Truth.

I am reminded of the song, "Here I am to Worship":

Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness.
Opened my eyes, let me see.
Beauty that made this heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You

Here I am to worship,
Here I am to bow down,
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
All together worthy,
All together wonderful to me

King of all days
oh, so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor

Here I am to worship,
Here I am to bow down,
Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely
All together worthy,
All together wonderful to me

I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
