Temporal Creatures About An Eternal Business

24 I say, "O my God, do not take me away in the midst of my days, Your years are throughout all generations.
25 "Of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 "Even they will perish, but You endure;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
27 "But You are the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
28 "The children of Your servants will continue,
And their descendants will be established before You."
Hymnals are filled with music written by hundreds of authors over hundreds and even thousands of years. A review of a good hymnal will reveal snapshots spanning the generations. Snapshots of saints who in living encountered the truth of God and committed their experiences to paper to share with the church. Many of those saints have since gone on to glory where they dwell in the very presence of God. We like the hymn writers are temporal creatures about an eternal business. Our time here is limited... Our generation is only one of thousands to have occupied this earth. The truly amazing thought is that one day we will occupy eternity with the generations... We will stand together shoulder to shoulder joining in with the inhabitants of Heaven to sing...
"Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created."

I'm not sure if I'm getting what you're after, but it always freaks me out to think that my ancestors - a mere three generations back - never knew or knew of me. And yet, the progenitors of my mother's side of the family came to this country in the 1700's from Scotland to preach the gospel. So we are connected even now.
