Spirit & Truth Newsletter: "Can You Hear The Sound?" (January - 2010)

Greetings,

Can you hear the sound? This is the message that the Lord has been speaking to me since hosting our first Worship Conference back in September. The following paragraph below is a recap of a previous email of what took place during the conference:

"I was amazed by the theme the Lord gave me on the first night that carried throughout the conference. That theme came from Acts 2:1-2

1. When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

The Lord would not let me off of that one part of the scripture: "there came a sound from heaven" and that sound did come during the conference - Wow!"

We experienced that "sound" from heaven on the last night of the September Worship Conference which was amazing. Since then I have been asking the Lord to "open my eyes and ears" to what worship is in heaven, to release the songs that the saints and angels are singing. I want the songs that have been in the worship library of heaven but are waiting to be released here on the earth.

Right before New Year's Eve, I was in Oklahoma visiting family. My father who pastor's a church there asked me to lead worship and preach for the Wednesday night service. By 6:00pm that night, I still had not received anything from the Lord on what to preach. I began to pray and ask the Lord about what I should say or do. God spoke to me and said talk about the "sound". As I thought about the verse in Acts 2, the Lord began to open passages to me that related to the "sound."

The first passage is Joshua Chapter 6, verse 20:

"So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city."

Many of you know the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho. But notice that when the people began to shout and the trumpets blew, their "Praise" was what destroyed the obstacle that was in front of them. What a valuable key for us to learn when we're faced with obstacles in our own lives. Praise allows us to remove those things that are keeping us from our destiny, blessings and kingdom heritage here on the earth.

The second passage the Lord took me to: 2 Chronicles, Chapter 5, verses 13-14:

"indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying:

"For He is good,
For His mercy endures forever,"

that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God."

This passage speaks about worship. I shared about when I was ministering in Atlanta; I had been asking the Lord to give us this type of worship experience. As the Lord is so good, He let us have a taste of it during the Sunday morning service. As we worshiped together as one, the presence of the Lord became so strong and weighty that I could no longer stand, but had to stop playing and singing and prostrate myself on the platform. It was as if the cloud of glory had filled the room much like in the passage above.

I'm sharing this with you because I want you to desire and hunger after it as well. I believe that if it happened in the Old Testament, then it can happen for us today. Let's worship together in unity until no one can stand because we want Jesus Christ to show up in His glorious presence and change us so we can change the world for Him!

The third passage He took me to: 2 Chronicles, Chapter 20, verses 21-22.

"And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

"Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever."

Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated."

This is one of my favorite passages about worship in the Old Testament. As King Jehoshaphat seeks the Lord in the face of being destroyed by his enemies the Lord gives him the key to victory - Praise & Worship! What does that have to do with the "sound"? Scientists have recently released a study about sound. They found that when words are spoken that they continue on, forever. We don't hear them anymore after we speak them but since sound and light are infinite, they travel on forever. Your words, including your prayers and songs sung to the Lord are continuing on.

As you enter in 2010, you will be faced at some point with challenges and trials. Before you react, remember what the Lord said to King Jehoshaphat when he was faced with dire circumstances.

…. "Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's." (Verse 15)

As you release the "sound" of heaven by releasing the promises of God through His word and begin to sing songs of Praise & Worship to Him…the enemy will be confused and can no longer stay or have victory. In fact you will not only have the victory, but you will also gain the spoils. Hallelujah!

Again, let's look at Acts 2:1-2:

1. When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

I like how in verse 2 it says, "And suddenly…" This year will be the year of "suddenly" like never before. Would you like to have some of those? Then here are some keys that will help release the "sound from heaven":

1. Prayer - In Acts they were gathered together in one accord praying. Praying is not optional, but vital. Praying in the spirit is more important now than ever. It is the prayer language the enemy has tried to stop because he understands he is powerless against it.

2. Praise & Worship - This is just really an extension of prayer but the focus is on God alone through songs. When we read throughout the book of Acts we see that when they gathered together, they were in one accord singing psalms and melodies unto the Lord. As they did this, what usually took place? The place would be "shaken" by the power of God. I want to see that happen in my lifetime, this year!

3. Faith - Without faith it is impossible to please God the bible says. As your faith is tested, exercise your faith in doing what God is asking you to do today. Faith requires action on your part. If it didn't then the disciples wouldn't have been waiting and praying in the upper room for the Holy Spirit to come. Joshua wouldn't have seen the walls of Jericho come down and King Jehoshaphat wouldn't have had the victory against his enemies with the victory spoils afterwards.

In closing, there's a worship song that I love and lead worship with titled "Holy Are You Lord" by Terry MacAlmon. Here are the lyrics from the verse:

Verse:

Can you hear the sound of heaven, like the sound of many waters
It's the sound of worship, coming from the throne
Cries of adoration, as men from every nation
Lift their voice to make His glory known, singing

What a wonderful and anointed song to worship the Lord with. The verse from this song speaks from Revelations in Chapter 1 as John is describing what he saw in his vision. In Revelation 1:15, it reads:

"His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace and His voice as the sound of many waters;"

This is a sound like no other. I don't think we can even classify it with all the technology we currently have. I believe that John was trying to describe something with a limited knowledge that he had which is probably not even close to what he actually experienced.

Worship has come a long way in the past 10-15 years. Many wonderful songs have been written and sung around the world. But think about this - we have only just begun to scratch the surface of what music and worship is like in heaven. God is pulling me, along with many others into that place where the "new sound from heaven" can be released into the earth for His bride. God is such a loving and creative God that He desires to release new things to people all the time. Now is the time, this is the year!

And so I leave you with this question: Can You Hear the Sound?

Damon, I am at a loss for words! Your blog post is so accurate, in that I believe that God is seeking us to worship him like never before. Earlier last year (2009), God gave me and another worship minister a vision for a Worship Conference (mind you I have never attended one, or even thought about attending one), we were instructed to call it "The Sound of Worship Conference". This conference was held in Wichita, Ks, last October. Not only did we release "the Sound", but there was a lot going on in the prophetic realm as well, in the way of prophetic worship and the like. Everyone who attended (nearly 250 people) described it as "The Day of Pentecost" experience, there was a release in the atmosphere, the Glory Cloud filled the building and there was a heaviness in the atmosphere so strong that many of us could not even stand. Our next conference will be this month March 18th -20th, 2010 in Kansas City Kansas... we are expecting and hungry for this same type of worship experience! www.soundofworship.net

Thanks Steven.....Sorry it took so long for me to respond. I have been traveling so much this month, which is good. I am excited to hear that God is doing this everywhere, especially with those who are so hungry for a powerful move of God. I look forward to hearing how the conference went this month as well.

Blessings my friend.
