Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for he issued his command, and they came into being. (Psalm 148:5, NLT)
A careful, slow read of Psalm 148 will reveal that God put praise into literally everything He created. Literally. Everything. Man and beast; nature and the elements. How many times have you heard a person say, "We don't praise God like that." Or maybe someone said, "We don't do that in our church." Okay, but have you thought about the possibility that by choosing not to praise God you're missing out on a richer, fuller Christian experience? The Word of God is very clear in the fact that the praises of God are for ALL of us, regardless of where we came from, what church we go to, its size, denomination, or geographical location. Nowhere in God's Word will we find provisos based on race, social class, income, or nationality when it comes to the praises of God. God's only concern when we praise Him is the condition of our hearts; is our praise coming from a heart that is near to Him?
Maybe this is all new to you; please let me encourage you. Praise is for you! It doesn't matter where you start, just look up to heaven, and ask God to help you open your mouth in praise to Him. Ask Him to open your heart to receive His truth concerning praise and worship. There is only one way to worship Him, and that is "in spirit and in truth" (John 4:23-24). There is only one way to praise Him, and that is with all that we have (Psalm 103:1).
