|The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:15, 19 (NKJV)|
I know about chaos. Many of you probably do, too. And if you have not yet experienced any level of chaos in your life, keep living - you will. An older, very wise former pastor of mine once said, "God knows your address!" If you're living in what seems a chaotic circumstance today, remember God is still God in the chaos. He is walking through that situation right with you. He not only loves and cares for us, but He also suffers with us. We have plenty of Biblical examples of chaos. David knew Saul was trying to kill him, but he was disciplined enough to never raise His hand against God's anointed (I Sam. 26:11). Moses knew about chaos - a nation of Hebrews not only complained about his leadership, but constructed an idol god. Surely Joseph experienced chaos when Potiphar's wife lied on him and he wound up in prison - but God was with him. Joshua found himself in a chaotic situation when, unbeknownst to him, the ban that God set up had been violated. Once Joshua addressed that issue, they again became victorious in battle. Job lost everything except his integrity and his love for God.
Chaos may catch us by surprise, but not God. God knew exactly when it was going to hit and how. Chaos can take many forms, but if we can learn to remain determined to give God glory in the midst of it, God will show Himself. God will show us fresh purpose, a deeper worship, and new lessons as we move forward. If you play it right, chaos may actually help you add a floor to your spiritual house. Sacrificial praise? Of course. But in making the sacrifice God can give you a peace in your spirit you didn't know you had. You really will find peace in your praise. The heartfelt praises of God will calm you down and help you see past the chaos. Sing a song; find a scripture that speaks to your situation and speak it over your life. God really is a Deliverer!
