What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say,"Look! This is something new"? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.

There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come
will not be remembered by those who follow.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-11

There is evidence all around us that there is nothing new under the sun…especially in our day. Fashion, music, politics…it’s all the same. It’s very interesting that the haircut’s and fashion of today look strangely reminiscent of when I was in High School. (1985, if you were wondering). Eight days ago, The Beatles re-re-re-released all of their music. I’m listening to it now in starbucks…blackbird. If that song were released today, it would be just as much a hit as in the sixties. And politics….yikes!!! Still corrupt, still chessy, still filled with all forms and flavors of dookie!! (“You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know We all want to change your head You tell me it's the institution Well, you know You better free your mind instead”).

I’m praying for the new generation. I’m praying that true change will flow from the lips, and the actions of our young. My hope is that the music, art, spiritual formation, and desire of our youth will absolutely turn our world upside down. The question is will we be strong enough to get out of the way? Do we really want change that transforms culture, hope that springs eternal, and life that’s lived unselfishly?

Do we?
Do You?

Bill,
Dang, my pastor and I just had lunch, and your preaching his sermon!
He sez, we oldies have taken on so much legalsitic garb from the 70's and the 80's,
our knee jerk reaction is to throw the baby out with the bath water as we "do" church now.
We went into lack-a dazial mediocrity, anarchy, and have forsaken, teaching the basic tenaments of the word that the younger one's of today are lacking. So many of them have a true heart, and desire to get to G-d.
We have to "get out of the way" as you said, and mentor them in His ways without all the legalistic baggage
that we have taken as gospel over the years.
