Dear Friends in Christ,
I don’t know about you, but I am kind of glad to see spring is finally on it’s way to Buffalo Mills, PA. It was a tough winter with all the snow and ice, but a lot of good things happened at New Life Bible Camp in spite of the bad weather. Snow did not force any retreat group to have to cancel and we praise the Lord for this.
The hosted retreat in March were very well attended, and by the comments that I heard or received through e-mail following the event, many were blest by their time spent at the New Life Lodge. We had to hold two Small Group Retreats this year because interest in this event continues to grow. We had around 45 participate in each of the SGR weekends. The theme for both events was based on Psalm 46:1B, Our God “is a very present help in times of trouble.” I spoke for the first weekend, and BJ Walbert from Chantilly Bible Church spoke for the second. We also enjoyed special music that was provided by the praise and worship band from Community Grace Brethren Church (also known as GodScent), and DJ Ritchey of Pennwood Bible Church. The Men’s Retreat was also well attended and I very much enjoyed Malcolm Beall’s teachings on Elijah and the Still Small Voice of God. We have also hosted the Dad And Daughter Retreat, and are looking forward to the upcoming Family Getaway Retreat.
We have also been blest by some volunteers who have been coming over to the camp to give me a hand in the housekeeping of the lodge. A big appreciation to the ladies from Calvary Bible Church and Pennwood Bible Church who have volunteered their time to help us. We are still looking for volunteers to help us with maintenance projects, kitchen help for cooking retreat, and summer camp support staff (nurse, camp Mom, maintenance aide). Anyone wishing to volunteer can contact me to find out how they or a group from their church might participate in the volunteer program of New Life Bible Camp.
I am still enjoying helping out with the Teen Ministry at Calvary Bible Church on Wednesday nights. Mostly I lead worship, but will be teaching a class on “The Importance of Easter” later this month. Due to the snow and ice, I have not been able to lead worship at Pennwood as often as I would have liked, but still found a good many Sunday evenings where I was able to help DJ Ritchey. I am looking forward to helping him lead a Communion Service the Sunday night before Easter.
It will not belong before staff training starts. There is still a good bit of items for me to work on to prepare for the summer program that we are calling “Thrill Seeker 2014.” The daily cabin Bible Study will focus on the word “F.A.I.T.H” (which stands for Foundation, Ability, Integrity, Tested, and Heroic). It is hard to believe that this will be my 25th summer at New Life Bible Camp. I appreciate each one of you more than I can ever express. Thanks for all who support financially and for all who support in various ways, such as the prayer team, or volunteering your time to help us at the camp. We do what we do because of faithful people like yourself. In Christ!
