"Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the LORD your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. "All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the LORD your God:     Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NASB) (emphasis mine)

A dear friend and sister of mine told me something a while back and it stuck with me.  She said, "A promise is a promise!"  She was referring to the truth of God's Word and how God means what He says.  In today's passage God lets us know right out of the gate that those who obey Him will see blessing.  When you give today's chapter a good read you will see terms like all, full, overflow, will, fertile, abundant, filled, and productive.  At first glance you may wonder what this passage has to do with praise and worship.  Only everything!  We see in this passage that obedience leads to blessing.  Shouldn't blessing lead to praise?  Aren't God's promises to us worth praising Him?   When God reveals Himself it drives us to worship.  What this passage says to me is when we walk in obedience to God, He will fill us up!  You can't get any better than "overflow!"  God is so gracious that He tells us all through His Word what we can expect when we follow Him.  Obeying God doesn't mean our lives will be problem-free, but it does mean we can walk in the truth that obedience does bring blessing.
