From Dens of Robbers to Temples of Yahweh

John 2:13-17
"When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, 'Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!'

His disciples remembered that it is written: 'Zeal for your house will consume me.' " (Psalm 69:9)

During a recent Bible study, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about these scriptures that we were studying.

He said that this scripture is about those chosen by God in Christ, because of His deep love for us in Christ.

We were dens of robbers.

But, because of Christ, we are now temples of the Spirit of Yahweh, houses of prayer.

Christ, by the shedding of his blood, the forgiveness of our sins, our faith in him, and the promised Holy Spirit deposited in us, drove out the spirit of the world in us, making us new creatures in Christ.

Jesus's zeal for his Father's house--that is, we, the chosen--consumes him."

Ephesians 1:3-14
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ ...

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding ...

Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory."
