The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever. The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace. Psalm 29:10-11 (NLT)
We live in a world now where it may be hard sometimes to remember that God really is in control. Crimes are being committed against our children such as I've never seen. Weather patterns are eerily unseasonal all over the country, and too many of our soldiers are coming home without access to the medical or emotional resources they need to enjoy wholeness again. But no matter how crazy the world seems to have gone, we have enough Word in us to always believe that this is God's world, He created it, He created all of us, and He rules over His creation. That's why it's important to not only get in the Word, but allow the Word to get in us. When we trust God to be a man of His word we live with the assurance that nothing is ever outside of His control; nothing ever gets by God. God rules over the floodwaters, He reigns as king not just now, but forever; He gives us strength, and He blesses us with peace. We need not wonder where our strength and peace come from; today's text makes it very clear. Our job is to draw close to Him (James 4:8(a)) and receive all that He so lovingly offers to us.
