Be strong and courageous. . .Only be strong and very courageous. . .This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth. . .Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous!  Joshua 1:6-9 (selected portions) (NASB)
In the  movie Rocky IV, there is a scene when Rocky travels to Russia to fight Ivan Drago.  His trainer encourages him saying, ". . .but now, you're the one".  His trainer had a very good reason for telling him that.  If you saw the movie you know what I'm talking about.  When I thought about that in light of recent events in the life of my church, I thought, "Okay.  But now. . .there is work yet to be done.  But now. . .we turn the page.  The book has not ended; we just have to turn the page."  Rocky knew he had work to do, and it was going to be hard.  Not only because his friend had died, but because he knew he couldn't fight Drago unprepared.  He had to train hard and he would have to fight hard.  That's where some of us are right now - except we've been trained, and there is more training to come, but now we have to fight - not in the human sense, but in the spiritual and perhaps emotional sense.  .  We have to fight to move forward, fight to turn the page, and fight to let go.  But Rocky wasn't fighting alone, and neither are we.  We are fighting with the presence of God in our corner - with the power of the Holy Ghost in our corner.  I'm not just writing to my readers - I'm writing to myself.  I'm in a serious fight, too.  In today's passage God told Joshua 3 times in 4 verses to be strong AND courageous.  I think God was making a point!  God knows what is ahead of us.  But the good news is He's already there!

A lot has happened; but now. .

Hebrews 4:12 tells us, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
