All these blogs and no answers...

Ever notice how many of these go by with zero repsonses, or just one or two?

Here's why:

1) The original poster never responds or quits responding.

2) The original poster censures your post because he/she doesn't agree with you. (Bosque!)

3) The subject is wacky and no on wants to talk about it.

4) The subject is very controversial and everyone is afraid to engage.

5) People don't know about them - they're near the bottom and not readily obvious.

5) ...add your reasons here...

Folks, these blog posts are a great opportunity but in reality, they're a bust. If they don't start getting used soon, we should vote to remove them and replace that space with more regular subject posts.

Notice this - anyone can post to this blog post - I'm not blocking or requiring approval. Go for it!

Hi Stevo,

Sorry for repeating a couple of points that I made in a previous blog of yours :

You are not able to edit once posted - I have many a time deleted an entire response because of spelling/grammar mistakes I have made.

Unlike a discussion, you are not able to reply directly underneath a specific person/point being made.

Unlike a discussion, they do not move up to the top of the page when someone replies, so when other people write a blog it moves further down and then on to the next page, where it soon gets 'lost' and forgotten about.

I am not saying this applies in all cases, but I have a tendency to think that bloggers want to be heard but are not prepared to discuss. Having said that, are they designed to be discussed or are they meant to be read and left at that? Come to think of it, what exactly is a blog?

Good thoughts - they are kind of a pain like that. Meant mostly for quick responses I think.

I just tried to figure out how to stop having to approve comments. How do you turn that off? I just want comments to roll in.

I prefer the more conventional forum format, where posts are added in chronological order - that way you KNOW that a post which first appeared on page 2 of 10 will still be there, and you can easily catch up on the discussion without having to check 10 (slow loading) pages to catch 1 point. It's a part of why I've more-or-less given up WTR.

I ignore the blogs because they often appear either more than a bit 'un-orthodox' theologically or be written with a very specific and narrow focus. Not all by any means, but after a while you know which authors it will not be helpful to read, just like there are lots of websites run by Christians that it's not necessarily helpful to read. I'm not intending to be offensive to any of the contributors, so much as explaining 'why'.

IMO of course.

Go into your 'settings' on the top right hand side, then into 'privacy', then into 'moderation' and click on the other box.........I think!

I'm with you Tony - we all know who they are and it looks like nothing good will happen if you respond to a blog entitled, "God is a Woman" or something outrageous like that.

Yes Lorraine - that appears to be it. I missed one setting when I set this up. You get extra cream for your scones.

....and another thing, the replies appear to come out in a random order. It's been challenge, sorting the order of this one : )

Hey, thanks for the cream : )

Toni, your second paragraph is totally right of course, the only difference being, is that you got the guts to say it out loud :)

So If I had said something like "The Holy Spirit is a Woman", you guys wouldn't have responded?

Well, Stevo, you seem to have gotten more comments on this blog post than many of mine. I think I'm getting jealous now! :)
