This is just a jumbled mass of thoughts from my brain. I am by no means a profound writer so my apologies in advance

When my 4th decade on earth was approaching I found myself remembering "the good? old days".
For me in my late teens, U2 was it. They had the sound and passion in their music that caught my attention. I remember hearing "Bad" for the first time and wanting to hear it again and again. The haunting melody and Bono's voice, "if you twist and turn away" was beautiful. I was a fan and people knew by seeing "U2" on the back of my jean jacket.
A highlight was having the opportunity to see/hear them live back in '87 at the CNE Stadium during their "Joshua Tree" tour. 60,000 of us freezing that cold October night. Good times. Good times.
Strange as it seems my love affair with this group eventually went stagnate. I found their new music lacking the passion that I enjoyed hearing in their first albums. Sadly, we drifted apart.
22 years later they are still at it in music. I needed to get caught up in what I've missed. Research on the web, library coffee table books, "Under A Blood Red Sky" DVD. I was back in the fan base. I listened to their newer music with fresh ears.
On the "UABRS" DVD, they end with "40" a song based on Psalm 40. It reminded me of when we were a mass of fans leaving CNE Stadium all those years ago singing"How long to sing this song?"

Today is my 40th birthday. I've spent time in the mire and my Lord has always heard my cries and lifted me. And He will continue to be faithful to me. This is a truth I know. To Him I will sing.
How long?
Forever
.
40

I waited patiently for the Lord.
He inclined and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit
Out of the miry clay.

I will sing, sing a new song.
I will sing, sing a new song.
How long to sing this song?
How long to sing this song?
How long, how long, how long
How long to sing this song?

You set my feet upon a rock
And made my footsteps firm.
Many will see, many will see and hear.

I will sing, sing a new song.
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song.
I will sing, sing a new song
How long to sing this song?
How long to sing this song?
How long to sing this song?
How long to sing this song? .
