The path ahead was calm and quiet, slowly twisting through the meadow toward the Aspen trees that lay ahead. The tall grass moved back and forth in the cool summer breeze.
Suddenly and without warning, a massive wall was blocking my way. I stopped and could not move. The wall was ominous and menacing. It looked down at me as if to say “Whom shall dare to pass?”
I was unable to move. Fear gripped my heart and every nerve in my body. I looked up… Continue

I went out and played 18 holes of golf this morning with my hubby. Being the early riser he is, we had a 7 AM tee time, but actually got off about 20 min earlier. It was a beautiful, quiet morning...cool...It was nice to take the time to breathe...
As I looked up in the blue sky (lately I've been telling God what a good job he's done with the clouds - perhaps he has a new designer up in heaven, but have you seen them recently?) I saw a lone bird flying high up in the sky, and for a… Continue

Psa 37:30 The godly offer good counsel; they know what is right from wrong.
Psa 37:31 They fill their hearts with God's law, so they will never slip from his path.
Sometimes we like to hear good advice and sometimes we don't like to hear advice even when it is good. However, the Bible encourages us to surround ourselves with "Godly Counsel".
I really thank God for those friends who take their time and really give good counsel. You know the kind of friends who are not afraid… Continue

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid - John 14:27
You know what is wonderful about being a Christian? never really being troubled. Oh, we can fret, worry all we want, even fuss a bit...but deep down inside, God gives us His peace.
My father in law died unexpectedly and suddenly about 4-5 years ago. He was like a father to me, and it was a crushing blow to family… Continue

This is the 3rd song that I wrote for my class assignment just 2 months back. It is dedicated to a group of friends that we meet regularly for the past year. The lyrics are found below. =)
Let us Sing
We are amazed by You O Lord
As You lead us by each step
To see Your grace that brings us here
And we stand
in awe of You
Let us sing with all our heart
Let us praise for all You've done
Let Your love overflow for… Continue

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. - Psalm 139:13-16
This might apply more to women… Continue

Have you ever stopped to appreciate the small things in life?
When we lived in Texas for a few years, I always had to wear shoes/sandals in the yard. Why? Well, for one thing, TX grass is so tough it will slice and dice the bottom of your feet like a set of ginsu knives (ok maybe a slight exaggeration there, but not much!) and the other thing are those lovely little creatures called fire ants. No matter how much toxic mayhem you try to wreak in your back yard, the little critters… Continue

It's hard to think of stuff to post every day. I thought I'd be good, and try at least every few days, but 6 days passed, and uh oh...then again...God doesn't really have a timetable I don't think - oh...He has plans for us, but it's on HIS schedule, not ours, as He loves to show me again...and again...and yet...again
One of the things I've been praying for lately is to have God free me from whatever is keeping me from getting close to Him - actually, I don't even say that, I… Continue

OK...I know that God promises He will never leave or forsake us - but what about the times we inadvertantly in some way, shape or form, wander away from Him? Or maybe we just don't hear Him? Either because we don't WANT to, or He has nothing to say to us at the moment, although WE may want to hear something.
That to me is one of the most frustrating aspects of my relationship with God. It's like when my hubby is watching a golf game on TV, and I want to say something to him, and he… Continue

“Change of pace + Change of location=Change of perspective”
I once heard this quote from a guy named Mark Batterson and it has always stuck in my head. I decided to apply this piece of wisdom a few weekends ago. My gorgeous wife Sarah and I packed up our little gray civic with some food, games, books and a lot of clothes and headed off to a little ocean town a few hours away. As soon as we entered the town we spotted a community garage sale and found some treasures including some killer… Continue

*Disclaimer* - these are the thoughts and ruminations of a busy wife and mom who, when she has time on her hands, has a tendency to think a tad TOO much! :-)
I don't know about you, but I talk to God...a LOT. We chat in the car on the way to work, sometimes during work (sorry for that "Holy CRAP!" Lord, when Meg texted me and told me her credit card was stolen out of her wallet), if I need patience, before I go to bed, and first thing when I wake up in the morning. Sometimes we'll… Continue

I was working aroung the house the other day while my little girl watched a program on PBS called "Super Why" ... it's a fun little show that teaches letters, words and reading that she really gets into. I had been pondering many spiritual things in my tiny mind that morning as I struggled to fully awaken to the day. At one moment the show was focusing on the spelling of the word SING. As in most pre-school shows, each letter was posted with fan fare and a significant pause to allow the young… Continue

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. - Hebrews 10:24
How often do you tell your family you love them? How many times, in rushing out of the house, do you just manage a quick "BYE!"?
My daughter started this new thing a few years back. I truly believe it was God working through her. She started saying "love you!" every time she talked to us on the phone, or left the house. I asked her why one day (since it wasn't… Continue

...posting blog entries, that is...I guess I should start out with a little about myself. I don't have a very exciting life - I'm a wife, mother, and all the other job descriptions that go along with those two things - I am blessed with two great kids - and so honored that God has given me and my husband the awesome responsibility of taking care of them while they are on this earth. Now that they are older (14 and 16) life seems to go at warp speed. Everyone told me "enjoy them while they are… Continue

James Taylor has it. Stevie Wonder has it. Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell ooze with it. The deft and creative touch of pianists Lyle Mays (with the Pat Metheny group), and arranger/composer/conductor Dave Grusin sparkle with it. Violinists Itsak Perlman and Isaac Stern and Mark O’Conner have it. Take 6 musical arranger Mervyn Warren has it.
Musical genuis? Yes to all of the above, but that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about authenticity. That quality of honesty and realness… Continue

I was listening to an old PODcast from Holy Trinity Brampton today, and Mike Pilavachi was speaking. He was describing how he views faith. (This is a paraphrase, but you get the idea.) Faith is standing on the diving board of a pool and realizing that there is no water in the pool. I would stop and say to God, "God, fill the pool with water and I will dive in." But God replies, "Dive into the pool and trust that by the time you get there, I will have filled the pool with water." Faith is always… Continue

As a drummer I have been looking for my own creative outlet for music. I have really been enjoying sample based music lately. Programs like Garage band, Acid or just creating your own sample based music with a DAW program. It's given me a better "focus" on the music and not just the drums. I feel it's helped me to be a better listener to what is going on in the music.
There is not much out there in Christian circles for the electronic/ambient genre of sample based music. I would like to… Continue
