The prayer life of a worshiper.

This is something I picked up at a conference a long time ago and it had a great impact on me. I will post parts over a few days so you don't have to eat it all in one bite. I hope you enjoy it.

The Prayer Life of a Worshipper

Brian Anderson

I. Introduction

A. Worship is a lifestyle, not just a few minutes on Sundays!

1. I Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

2. Colossians 3:17 And whatever… Continue

The Heart of Our Worship...

Okay, bear with me for a few moments...the last couple months, there has been something bothering me. Now, please don't think I am coming down on worship leaders everywhere, or even questioning their motives. I just personally think we need to watch how we portray what we are doing in our worship services and how it comes across to others. One of my favorite blogs has a thing every week called Sunday Setlists...Like I said, I am not taking aim at… Continue

Be Profitable...

Isn't it funny how God speaks the same words to us over and over to get things across to us? Over the last couple days, I have been reading through scriptures and keep being brought back to this particular passage. Yesterday morning, in Sunday School we spoke about the "comfort zone" we are in in the church setting and then the morning sermon actually began in the early parts of the chapter and the passage was brought to my mind once again. The passage for today comes from Hebrews… Continue

Mountain View Community Church,

I had the great pleasure of playing on the worship team at Mountain View Community Church in Canon City this morning.

We had a great time. As soon as I walked through the doors I felt at home. Pastor Benny is amazing. He love God and God's people. They are just getting started but I know God is going to grow them in so many ways. I get to play again next weekend and then back to New Life.

God is so good.

There is a new sound ........

There is a new sound coming into the earth today ... it is the sound of heaven. What does this "heavenly sound" sound like? Listen There is glory on the voice of someone who has been there. You can tell if they have been there or if they haven't.

I personally believe there are two elements that will identify this fresh wind of God's spirit in our worship, and those two… Continue

A Fall Back Plan to Fail

Once again, my cousin Joe preached an inspiring message this Sunday. But as he was preaching, I was stuck at two particular verses (Sorry bro. got distracted by the Holy Spirit). Which lead me thinking and meditating on it the whole afternoon.

Exodus 4:2-3 ... short version of this story is that Moses was giving a lot of excuses why he can't go to Egypt. After naming all his fears, as Joe so insightful put it, God just asked what was in his hand and it was a staff. Then God ask him… Continue

I'm new here...

Hello. I'm new here. I just have to clarify one thing. I love to write songs and worship the Lord. But I haven't lead (or co-lead) praise and worship for over 20 years. I've got a lot of songs that I still need to put music to. You might be able to notice that from a few of my uploaded songs.

Blessings and joy to you all,
Anna

Your Life is Hid in Christ

I don't know about you, but the last couple weeks my email inbox has been filled with political emails of folks overly concerned about our pending elections. Now, don't get me wrong, we are in a very crucial point of our history, but are we letting our concerns about the election outweigh our concerns for the lost? A lot of Christians I know are only talking about Obama this, McCain that...Palin...Biden...I don't think any of them has a reason to… Continue

Blog Action Day...Poverty

I received notice that today is "Blog Action Day 2008" and thought I would look for scripture that deals with poverty and the poor. While our family were missionaries to the Sioux Indians in South Dakota, I saw poverty first-hand. It is an ugly thing that is not always caused by laziness. Sometimes, it is caused by any number of things from location, life decisions, etc. We as Christians are called to reach out and help the poor and oppressed. I would like to hear from you today as your… Continue

And Keep Thy Word...

This morning as I have been doing some reading around the blogosphere, I am troubled by a few things. I realize as "worship leaders", we are to be working to produce the best possible product to lead, but are we putting the focus on the right things? I have read how several are worried about keeping guitarists, pianists, drummers, and vocalists happy. That is not what worship is about, though...it's about giving our best to Him, regardless if we hear our voice loud enough, there's feedback,… Continue

Your work shall be revealed by fire...

I know many of you have been hearing about the Block Party we had this past Saturday. i am going to be using some of what happened there as illustration of today's passage which comes from 1 Corinthians 3:13-15..."Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (15) If any man's work shall… Continue

Praise and Worship

The Bible tells us that the entire Christian life is lived by faith: We are saved by faith (Ephesians 2:8); we walk by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7); we please God by faith (Hebrews 11:6); and we overcome the temptations of the world by faith (1 John 5:4). But faith can seem like an abstract concept -- how do we practically demonstrate faith?

The Bible tells us that faith has a language, and that language is praise. When Paul and Silas were put in prison for doing God's will and… Continue

Pursuing the Prize

Let me just first start off and say that this is an amazing website. I have been praying for something like this for a long long time!

I love a good chase- We all do. Turn on FOX news much during the day and sooner than later- there will be a high-speed chase televised “LIVE”, so that you can watch. Something about the excitement of a pursuit captivates us. We get entertained by shows about it on TV (The Amazing Race). As kids,… Continue

Friends of the Bridegroom - Moving Into Holy Spirit-led Worship

Day 3: How do We Access This “Kingdom?”

Jesus told His disciples in John 14: “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. ......... He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be… Continue

Story behind the song: Send Me Out

Song of Commitment was actually a sequel to this song. Song of Commitment touches more on a personal level in worship. There is a separate kind of anointing that flows when we start declaring and proclaiming as a church as a body of Christ.

If one of us can reach out to 10, imagine what 100 of us could do. I’m not talking about hit and run evangelism or hit and run mentoring, I’m talking about really investing your time and effort for the Kingdom of God. Always remember, the Kingdom… Continue

Balancing Act

I have a number of people who would like to become involved in the worship arts ministry of our church, but I am finding it difficult to schedule new people in while still allowing others to serve where they are gifted.
Any thoughts on maintaining the balance?

Story behind the song: Song of Commitment

I wrote this many moons ago when I completed a leadership-training course. But it has never been more real to me than such a time as this. I really feel that God has a plan for me here in Perth and find myself getting drawn closer to serving Him full-time ever so much more.

I’ve been listening to people talk about the world’s financial crisis, as my cousin Joshua Ong (he’s a very reputable manager in a financial institution), put it “It’s not a recession, it’s more like a depression… Continue

Who will be great among you???

In our devotional journals we are working on during our PowerUP campaign, today was covering Mark 10:35-45. My mind has been on what was spoken in this text. I will be looking at the latter part of this passage, beginning in verse 42..."But Jesus called them to him , and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. (43) But so shall it not… Continue
