I was at a church recently and they sang Matt Redman's Blessed Be Your Name. When they go to the bridge (the part that says, You give and take away) they had changed the words to, 'He blesses every day'. I was ready to get on my soap box. Now I realize that they probably didn't mean this, but it sounded to me like they were saying that they blessed His name if He blessed them, but not if He didn't. The only thing I could think was, "Would they still say blessed be His name if He took away from…

1. Psalm 103:7 He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel
2. The difference between knowing someone as a friend and knowing someone because you have their resume’
C. Direction & vision in ministry
1. Proverbs 14:12 there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

We've just reached the point where our technology is starting to match the vision for providing technical resources for musicians in the church. The hope is to provide some useful and practical tools and to use social networking as a distribution mechanism. There is more to come. Our hope is to provide accurate, quality presentations of useful data.

IV. Why we should pray
A. To seek Gods face
1. Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
2. Psalm 27:8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.
3. God’s greatest desire from us is for us to love Him. Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. We only seek God’s face out of a heart of love and that’s pleasing to Him. II Corinthians…

I live in a small town in Texas where the entire county is a designated nesting area for flocks of retired folks. It’s a wonderful place to live except for a few minor exceptions. One of those is that about half of the locals, well let’s just say they move at a far slower pace of life than some of us. And for unexplainable reasons they are always in front of me when I want to be somewhere NOW. I’m not talking about breaking the law here. I’d just like to be able to go the posted speed limit…

Well, October is almost coming to an end. 2 more months and it'll be the beginning of a new year. Exciting times ahead, especially for Joe and Caris *nudge, nudge :P
This Friday, our church will be having a celebration service. No need to check you Christian calendars, it's our church thing. Basically we are celebrating the launching of the new 'cell groups'. I was sitting in my studies earlier this week just thinking of all the blessings that God has poured into my family since…

Take Time to Notice
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning" James 1:17
Have you taken the time to notice the little gifts the Father bestows on you? His hand is everywhere in our lives, yet we allow life's daily distractions to take our attention away from them. From HIM. From the many simple ways He wants to bring smiles to our faces.
I love birds.…

C. Gifted people can get a lot of “ministry” done in the kingdom of God just through their personal giftedness.
1. The problem is we then tend to rely on our personal giftedness to get the “Ministry” accomplished, and often times a lot gets accomplished! But not in comparison. When we work “we” work but when we pray God works. E.M. Bounds
D. Time Pressures
1. In life there are lots of things trying to eat up your time. (work, family, ministry, friends, activities, relaxation, TV,…

Malachi 3:8-9 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and offerings.”
Are you a thief?
Now, I know most of the time we see this verse and we automatically think “Money”, but I want us to think about this in another light: our worship.
Are we robbing the Lord? Meaning, when we are at church or in prayer, are our minds solely focused on the Lord? Are we giving Him…

Today, I was meeting with a friend who was asking what I am doing to draw more people to God? What goals do I have set in place? Then he asked me a tough question...what plan do you have set for memorizing scripture? Think about that...What plan do you have set for memorizing scripture? It has been somewhat hit-and-miss is what I said. I work on memorizing scripture, but haven't set a goal for how many. Well, today, I set forth the goal of one verse a…

Music was created by God, as was every instrument to be used to bring Him glory. All throughout the Scriptures we read how important music is to God and to His creation. In fact the book of Psalms is entirely devoted to praising the Creator of the Universe in every situation with every kind of instrument. We are even commanded in the New Testament to sing and make melody with all our heart to the Lord and to address each other in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs (Col 3:16 & Eph 5:19). Even…

Just came back from University Classes, so tired. I just thank God that i have a family to come home to which provides a nice environment for me to grow spiritually. Recently,i had been reminiscing about my Student Exchange trip in Japan. So many memories, if i was given a second chance, i would have loved to go back and try to have a more fruitful time over there.…

This morning, I have been thinking and singing the words from "Mighty to Save". Many have heard the Hillsong version, however I am putting up the video from Laura Story. I found the images a bit better than those of the Hillsong version. As you watch the video, there are 3 verses that fit perfectly with the song:
1. John 3:16..."For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
2.…

B. We don’t expect anything to happen.
1. One of the greatest deceptions the enemy wants to pull on us is that our prayers don’t work.
2. That’s why the word of God constantly exhorts us about the necessity persevering in prayer. (Satan doesn’t want us to communicate with God because then we will see things happen)
a. Luke 11:5-13 Then he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a…

Yesterday I had the privilege of interviewing my friend,
Ben Abu Saada, on the
All About Worship Podcast. He is a full-time worship pastor and communications director. It was a lot of fun talking about worship ministry, the most embarrassing moment leading worship, and hearing an original song he wrote.
I am looking forward to having him co-host the podcast with me. Email or txt your comments or…

I started this morning feeling rather cranky. Job issues, personal issues, mostly because Amanda (my young adult daughter) has been awol for almost two weeks, with no word from her, and I feel torn up inside, although I TRY not to show it. (TRY being the watchword...give me a little grace...)
We all feel like we go through times when we can't bear much more, don't we? I'm sending you this, not to make you or I feel sad, but to help you and I remember just how blessed we…

III Why don’t we pray much?
A. We haven’t seen the importance of prayer in the lives of major New Testament Characters.
1. Paul.
a. Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray…

This is the shortest of the four:
II Prayer in the Jerusalem Church
A. Acts 1:14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Acts 6:4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”

My friend Ken Verheecke is a full-time musician who travels to churches all over America playing concerts and selling his CDs. He’s got a huge heart for people and is a fantastic musician.
This past weekend he was driving to a gig in Cody, WY when the engine blew on his car. He drives a Toyota Corolla, nothing fancy. The repair costs are astronomical ($8600 for a new engine from Toyota, and so far the cheapest used engine they’ve been able to find will run $5900).
As you…

Earlier this week, while reading one of the many devotionals I read, I was struck by a quote..."A superman would have made it look easy. It took an ordinary man to make it look like God"...That quote has gone over and over in my mind. One of the stories that was brought to my mind was of David and Goliath. It is such a great illustration of God taking the average, if not below-average in stature to bring down the powerful.
Let's just look at a…
