Live and die, or live and learn. It's our choice.

John Nyavor in Africa needs your prayers, he is ministering to those in various villages which are mostly Muslim. Some of the areas that John enters are very dangerous, but he is doing the will of God by preaching to those people.
Please pray seriously for God to protect Pastor John during these visits and for people to recognize their need to receive Jesus, as you know in some of those areas, people are very poor and hungry for the word of God.
I love you through Christ… Continue

For about 4 years I have wanted a web page/blog site that is dedicated to worship arts at the church where I lead worship - and finally I have found the time to do it!
My goal for the page is for us to share information and thoughts about worship in general and at our church. I would love to hear if you have ideas for new songs for worship and any other thoughts you have about worship in general.
I plan to share weekly information about upcoming services and events as well… Continue

We pray and plead with God regarding requests for healing, financial help, a job, an answer, whatever our need we pray and seek God forgeting that God is found in our praise not in our constant requests, before ever great event in the Old Testament there was ALWAYS a time of Praise, no requests just praise. So the next time you are seeking God STOP and just began to PRAISE HIM cause He already knows the rest.

Maybe I should have been a bit more worried a bit earlier...like when I got the call Saturday evening from my right-hand guy Ted (who happens to be the dad of our drummer and our 2nd guitarist). "Say, did I remember to tell you that we're camping this weekend and won't be there tomorrow? I can't remember if I remembered to let you know..." (he hadn't...a very rare oversight on his part...)
OK...not the end of the world, and everyone needs a vacation from time to… Continue

The entire creation is waiting anxiously, eagerly for... the return of the Lord? Romans 8:19 says that creation is waiting for the manifestation, revealing, UNVEILING
of the sons of God. Jesus preached the gospel of the Kingdom. He embodied the life of His Father through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said "OF myself I can do nothing, I only do what I see the Father doing. The Father in Me does the works." Jesus lived His life on earth as a man, totally yielded to His Father. Totally dependent… Continue

We've decided to make the job listings on Worship The Rock free to post for the foreseeable future.
As the job board is a new feature we're experimenting with different ideas and think this is a good way to go...at least for now.
So please do go ahead and post any worship pastor / worship leader job openings in your church or that you're aware. Also, please spread the word to your church office that it's free to post worship jobs on Worship The Rock!
Just go… Continue

Please visit my page to review the song I have just added. It was written as a word of hope and encouragement for the families involved with Autism. Gracie Newsum does the vocals and she is my co-writer on this song. Being only 16 years of age Gracie was not sure if she should be the one reaching out to those struggling with this awful disease. And she wondered why I wanted a youngster to come up with the music for the song. My thinking was a young person could add much to the message and that… Continue

God’s truth is old and has been indelibly written across time—always relevant no matter the cultural context. As such I have been finding myself reaching for a worn and tattered 1965 printing of Oswald Chambers My Utmost for His Highest. A few months ago I read the entry for January 3rd: Clouds and Darkness in which Chambers states:
“If we have never had the experience of taking our commonplace religious shoes off our commonplace… Continue

It was a week during the summer. My husband had gone off to Las Vegas to a convention for work and I left to go to the Arts conference at Willow Creek in Barrington IL. We had been trying to conceive our first child for over two years without much luck, mostly because I have PCOS, that is, Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. So I was really excited to find out I had finally gotten pregnant!
I had a really great time to connect with God in worship that week at the conference. There were great… Continue

A song about priorities, and how the Church lives differently in the midst of a fallen world.
We Will Trust the Lord
The world will trust in affluence Continue
But we will trust the Lord
They cling to all that they possess
But we hold to the…

I'm at The Leadership Summit, yeah I know I'm a worship leader. I really enjoy listening and learning from great communicators and thinkers... Tim Keller is here, he is a pastor at a Presbyterian Church in New York. He is a great communicator... He said this:
"Religion = I obey God therefore I am accepted. The Gospel teaches I am accepted therefore I obey God."
Game changing... even for a Worship Leader.

Its Sunday morning. Your guitar is plugged in and tuned up. Your mix is tweaked. Your bassist was ten minutes late but no big deal, he is always late. You're ready to go but for one persistent problem... Your heart is far from Him.
If you have been leading worship for any length of time you have probably encountered this scenario. At times, our hearts are less then into what is taking place during a worship service. The band can be… Continue

Wow, what a neat place. My worship pastor seemed to have run accross this site and became a fan on facebook. I was curious about the name...I mean ..worship the Rock? Woah.. not nature worship right? Well little did I know that I've found a blogging site for worshippers! Whoo hoo! I've got about two years worth of blogs regarding worship on my xanga site. ( and the most recent years about motherhood) But it is really neat that there is a place where there is a community of people that are… Continue

Often I find myself showing up to church on Sunday mornings in greater anticipation of doughnuts and coffee then an encounter with the eternal God. What is it about a hot steamy cup of jo and a lump of flower, sugar, and yeast, that enraptures our senses? Paul warned the Philippians to “watch out for those who’s god is their appetite” and during His encounter with the Samaritans Jesus told His disciples “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.” Food, unlike… Continue

Just wanted to know if anyone else uses clicktracks (stereo tracks with a click in one channel and music augmentation in the other). I have been using them with our praise team for about a year and they are fantastic. Anybody else use them? Just wanted to know...

Behold, bless the LORD, All you servants of the LORD,
Who by night stand in the house of the LORD!
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, And bless the LORD.
The LORD who made heaven and earth Bless you from Zion!
Psalm 134:1-3 (NKJV)
It is a strange time for adoration to stand in God's house by night, to worship in the depth of sorrow. It is indeed an arduous thing. Yes, and therein lies the blessing; it is the test of perfect faith.
In the Bible,… Continue

I don’t know if its the modern need to classify and explain or the post-modern need to dissect and understand but either way it seems as though we loose a sense of wonder and awe when we try to explain that which is unexplainable about God. The Trinity is not an egg, clover, H20, or even space (sorry Jack). Its the Trinity, confounding and anything but simple. This is not to say we should give up on Theology. That would be foolish. The process… Continue
