Training myself out of a job

I think I can see that it is possible for me to train myself out of a job as worship leader, not that my calling would be revoked or I would go into early retirement, but to train up a cadre of leaders who need the work (figuratively) so much that I would be the directional worship leader- Like Pace at FC Grapevine...But could I ever train my way out of a job as a lead guitar player? My whole team claims to be onboard with training and discipling the next generation... but is ANYBODY doing it?

My Aha Moment

If you've been following my posts, you know that the past few months have been quite challenging. And in the midst of difficult circumstances, I imagine that few of us understand or can grasp the long term ramifications of the trials that befall us. And yet, we serve a God of the big picture. He sees the end from the beginning and declares, "It is good!"

It's three and a half months from the passing of the eye of the storm. I've been doing all I can to make sense of the debris that… Continue

I jam for the Lamb

Loving Jesus, using the gifts he's given me to lead folks into His Presence, seeing people passing from death to life right before my eyes, seeing the life changes, the changed lives...I am all about it! /body>

"Fasting" From Music (Or "The day I went to church and the band was banned.")

This morning, due to a family gathering at the other end of town, we arranged to be absent from our normal congregation. We decided to attend worship at the Seattle Temple Corps of the Salvation Army, as it was fairly close to the family gathering location. My wife grew up as a Salvationist, playing cornet and alto horn in the band, and she was able to renew acquaintances with several people she knew. I was… Continue

Worship In Missions- Part 1

I am a missionary to Thailand. I’m also a worship leader and musician… in fact, music and worship ministry have become my main ministry as a missionary. I started the School of Worship, YWAM Thailand in 2004, with my wife Yam, who is a Thai citizen. We also write worship songs for the Thai church and release christian albums. Through the past 10 years of worship ministry in a foreign land, I have been trying to figure out exactly how to be the most effective “music”… Continue

Lessons from the North Wind

"I don't quite understand you North Wind. You tell me what then." "Well I will tell you . If you see me with my face all black, don't be frightened. If you see me flapping wings like a bat's, as big as the whole sky, don't be frightened---you must believe that I am doing my work. Nay, Diamond, if I change into a serpent or a tiger, you must not let go your hold of me, for my hand will never change in yours if you keep a good hold. If you keep a hold,… Continue

If You Ever Sence a Burden

This was sent to me a few years ago, and I thought

it was worthy of posting.

If you ever sense a burden to pray for anyone, do not

dismiss it as something in your mind that you imagined.

It may be the Holy Spirit's small voice prompting you to

interceed for a person or situatuion and maybe to call

others to pray. That prompting may come while you are

doing anything, at home, at work, or in your automobile.

Whenever it comes, pray. It may be a… Continue

Nashville, TN 20 years later

Wow!

I was surprise by the feed back by those who saw me share my songs. I mean there are people here who can do circles around me , younger, hip etc..and yet they kept telling me, "your very different" I can feel what your singing, its real, its personal, and I can relate to it" (Not bad for an old folk singer, but I also know it's the Lords Spirit that was working in and through me.)

It just hit me. 20 years ago this month, my first album "In the Quiet Moments" came out. I still… Continue

Episode 2: Promise of Heaven

This song looks at four different metaphors for Christ that are found in both the Old and New Testaments.

The lyrics:

Promise of Heaven

Promise of Heaven and star of the morning

Blinding our pride in the light of your rising

Burn through the shadow of death in our eyes

Parting darkness, restore our sight

Lead us from lives that are clouded and torn

Into the light of a world that has been reborn.

Promise of Heaven and vine…

My testimony

Nepal was the only Hindu country in the world, but a few months ago Nepal became a secular country. I was born in a Hindu family. In the Hindu religion there are lots of gods and goddesses. Temples are built as our tradition in honor these gods. The country is also called the country of temples. Therefore, as a tradition people go to the temples to pay respect to the gods and I used to be one of the many devotees.

When I was young (about 15 years old), my father died. He was an… Continue

CIA in Nashville, TN

Well I'm at the CIA music conference here in Down town Nashville, TN. Ok I'm a little excited and yet feel so out of place. I don't fit in with the musician mentality..I'm not seeking to make it big or to make it in the music bizz, I'm already serving the Lord full time with not just my music, but preaching and speaking as well.

But, I want to be open and hear whats going on in the CCM world (to be frank I don't care about the CCM world or its goals, its just not were my heart… Continue

having compassion in prayer.

this Sundat morning a lady had a seizure and right away was quicken to go up to her and pray,

I knew it was GOD because I to had seizures for 17 yrs. 8 diffrent types or I should say areas of the brain that were directly effected by this awful condition.and knew we can pray for someone else when we ourselves have been through the very same thing. PRAISE GOD ON HIGH, OUR RIGHTOUS KING. I didnt even care that I was crying uncontrollable, it had to be the heart of GOD pouring out of me,… Continue

the power of "one"

The power of "One"

"I [God] sought for a man [person] among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one."1

Have you ever felt helpless in light of the seemingly overwhelming problems we face in today's world—either at home or abroad? The truth of the matter, however, is that one person can make a world of difference to at least one other person and, more often than not, to a host of other… Continue

Prayer Against Oppression

Prayer Against Oppression
Almighty God, who hast created us in thine own image: Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice in our communities and among the nations, to the glory of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
