Ruth Njuguna commented on Stephen Hawkridge's blog post 'Let God be glorified!'
"Amen Bro. Many a times its when we come to God with burdens surrounding us all over, and this truly hinders God from blessing or have a free heart to worship. My prayer this day its that whenever I am before my God that i should think of nothing…"

Lenny Smith commented on Stephen Hawkridge's blog post 'Not about the music...'
"Stephen: I am delighted to find your thoughts here. I believe we really do need a radical revolution in worship, not just a fix. We have put God on the throne, sitting and watching us do our worship thing...our singing, our dancing, our praying, our…"

Let God be glorified!

Step out boldly in the empowering grace of God, for He has called you to be a light in the darkness, a city upon a hill. Surrender your brokenness to a Saviour that enables. Stand in your brokenness before a Spirit that empowers. And, falling to your knees, ask for the wisdom to break from all that hinders you from being all that God has planned. May the power of His Spirit enable you as you walk upon His path. May the love of God surround you, as you daily take your cross. Let not the problems…See More

Stephen Hawkridge commented on Stephen Hawkridge's blog post 'Not about the music...'
"Definitely! Just thinking of how to implement this practically. If we look at the positioning classical church choirs they are always to the side. Somehow the 'band' has become the focus of the congregation during worship, even though we…"

David Duchene commented on Stephen Hawkridge's blog post 'Not about the music...'
"True! ..and it's by no means "just" the congregations..it's also the worship team "leader" and members that jockey for pre-eminence and control of the "worship" time... We (the worship team and…"

Not about the music...

We, as a congregation need to come to the realization that it is NOT about the music. Its not about singing the songs or dancing around, it is ONLY about God, for He is worthy. How is it that we can stand in a crowd of 5000 "Christians" "worshiping" and fail to see the glory of God, fail to give Him the glory. How has music and song, such an intricate part of David's worship, become the object instead of the platform for worship. How about, for one Sunday, instead of our normal worship set, we…See More

Al Hilgendorf commented on Stephen Hawkridge's blog post 'Why do we shrink God so?'
"I don't think we can "work up" reverence and awe. Maybe we don't have reverence and awe because we haven't experienced anything awesome. When we stand up in front of the congregation every week our hope is to help them see…"

Diana Jurss commented on Stephen Hawkridge's blog post 'Why do we shrink God so?'
"I see your point. Maybe we do this in order to feel we are "friends" with God, or, in order to approach Him at all. Probably, if I really had a good grasp on Who and What God is, I would fall on my face and not be able to get up, ever! On…"

Why do we shrink God so?

Posted on April 7, 2009 at 7:18am 2 Comments

It seems so often, in our 'modern' worship, as we come into a deeper relationship with God, as we view God on a more personal level, we lose sight of the magnitude of who God is. This isn't a new trend, but it seems to be more prominent in the way we now worship. Somehow we have lost the reverence, the awe when coming into the presence of our almighty Creator. Looking back on the people in the old testament and how at even a glimpse of God's glory they fell to the ground face-down, I begin to… Continue

Worshiping at work

Posted on April 6, 2009 at 8:40am 2 Comments

How, in the busyness of the workplace do we find the time (and the space) to worship God, without it being detrimental to our work. I guess the simplest answer can be found in "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). If we're continually in communion with God we can be worshiping through all we do, whether its in our attitude to those around us, or thanking God for the simple gifts He gives us every moment of the day. But how do you go deeper with God, when the distractions of the world… Continue
