Good point. Music, lighting, etc, it's all the same. It's feeding our senses with stimulus that will focus us on worship and removing those that distract us from it. Whatever that might be I think it does help our times of worship become more effect…

I think environment has a lot to do with the effectiveness of worship. That can be music, lighting, other sounds (rain, ocean, ...), readings, etc. I worship better with music in most cases but the most intense worship I've had has involved reading…

I had that problem with two different lead guitar players. I try to make a point periodically to the whole team that we need to be all about blend and dynamics. For lead guitars that means we don't need to be ripping off guitar solos and riffs all t…

How does your interaction with your pastor work?  Do you meet often?  How often?  Where?  How much do you work together on planning worship?  Are you involved in helping the pastor with other creative aspects of the worship service beyond music?  Ar…

Some random thoughts... No matter how polished and smooth they seem, many worship leaders struggle with their imperfections and insecurities more that it might appear. Why do so many introverts end up as worship leaders? Don't compare yourself to a…

Too little information tends to be a problem with any situation involving people's personal lives. My response to any situation in this area is to talk to my pastor. In every case my pastor has already been involved in the situation in some way and…

Joel, thanks for taking the time to post this. It really spoke to me this week. I've felt things building and getting more complicated lately. So much concern about logistics, planning, managing personalities, technology, etc. I've started to feel d…

I keep returning to your incident in the park. I believe we all need more experiences like that. They are the moments we remember and treasure long after we have forgotten last year's Sunday services. Just sitting in the rain, listening to the wind in the trees and the patter of raindrops, reflecting on how great and how close our Creator is. But how many of us plan moments like that? And has it inspired you to do anything similar since?

Hi Pete: I'm a singer/songwriter/Acoustic Guitarist from California. I compose all my own original works by the help of the Lord. I have been living for God since I was 18...and I am now 47 just like you!! Wow! Anyways, I am Majoring in music at College...I use to work in the advertising/marketing field for a newspaper but decided to follow my true passion...MUSIC~~ I hope to get my material copyrighted soon and my dream is to one day record my stuff and put out a CD. Alot of people say my material sounds like Amy Grant mixed with Allison Krauss with a folk/jazz flair. I have been into Steven Curtis Chapman, 4-Him, Amy Grant, Hillsongs, Israel, Jars of Clay....I believe that God sets us up and God brings us down...I want to lift him up in everything I do! Hope we can connect musically...let me know what ideas you have...I am open to new worship materials, vocals, etc... God bless, Cindy (Guitar Lady) check out my site on Worship the Rock (sorry I am new to site and don't have a photo posted yet.)

I find secular music shallow and lacking Thank you Mr. Brower. I've been saved almost 30 years and have never had to lean on secular music for any inspiration to write music. Although my music may have some similar sounds to secular in someone's opinion (because somewhere along the way, we all sound like someone) I've always been inspired to write while listening to other Christian artists, not secular. blessings, elman

Way cool. Arizona is very different alright. I hope you made it to the Grand Canyon. I like the North rim as apposed to the South, not as many people, and a prettier drive.
