Douglas Birk replied to Murray Paul Gordon's discussion 'New song- My Brand New Home' in the group Songwriter's Circle
"Murray, I love your honest lyrics. Too often songs make lots of promises to God... I willl do this, I will do that... Yours portray God as the faithful One when we're not, the graceful One that is our hope for tomorow in Heaven. The verses…"

"It would be hard to add to the past comments. The staightforward Southern style is good and the tune is catchy for sure. God loves our efforts for Him and always for His glory so keep on writing and be careful of those cymbals in the future!!! lol…"

"I think I would say that the song is solid! Good lyrics; we always seem to need the reminder that this world is not our home. I agree with David that the cymbals are very distracting - the recording would be much better without them. I record at…"

"The song itself is good. I can see how it works for folks in the south. I mostly like your chorus. The arrangement flows and is very catchy. I would encourage you to try another recording without drums or maybe without symbals. I understand…"

New song- My Brand New Home

This isn't what is commonly considered praise and worship. We've tried it out a few times and being in the south and in a very country music saturated area, it works with our folks, however. But I like the drive to it and I guess when I wrote it, Heaven was very much on my mind (I don't always remember what was going on at the time songs come to me). Its a home mix and I'm not a producer. Hope you guys enjoy it.Lyrics:My Brand New HomeIt’s a long, long road that I have traveledOften I have…See More

About Me:
I grew up in church, and then drifted for about 15 years. I gave my life to Christ in 1995. I had lost my dreams and as I began to learn and grow in Christ, He began giving me new dreams. He rekindled my passion for music. He gave me a desire to write songs and then allowed me to learn enough guitar to use in writing.
He then called me into ministry, but I wasn't sure in what area. This was due to my impatience and insecurity more than anything. As a youth I had felt led to preach, but by the time I gave my life to Him, I wasn't so sure that I was 'qualified' any longer. Plus, as a singer,I wanted to be up there with the Christian 'stars' and yet I knew my own abilities were not on that level. Understand, I was a babe in Christ, I still had a lot of worldly focus. Finally, after several years of searching, trying different things, different styles, and even different churches, my wife and I surrendered to the call to minister in Lewisburg, TN. What began as Bible study has grown into a church of which I co-pastor and share in music leadership. God has blessed us there greatly. Lives are being touched, changed. His Word is being taught and lived. Young Christians are maturing. And most important, God is being lifted up.
