Profile Information

Home Church:
Buffalo Evangelical Free Church
Musical Gift(s):
I'm a Bass Player (upright, electric and tuba!), a Brass Player (most all of them...), a Producer, a Publisher (Renanah Music), and provide recording services and teaching/consulting in Music Ministry Development, Worship, and Church Sound
About Me:
I've been a musician and a Christian almost my entire life. However, until about 20 years ago or so, I wasn't a musican doing much Christian music. Contemporary worship opened my eyes to what I believe God had been preparing me for and I gave up playing secular entertainment music and shifted all my musical focus and energy to serving the Lord.

In 2001, following this calling to bring my passion for music and my faith life together, I created a not-for profit organization (JoyFul Noise Ministries) to help emerging Christian musicians, songwriters, and other Christian "performing artists" develop their artistic ministry. JoyFul Noise Ministries assists these artists to "bloom where they are planted," while giving them the opportunity to share their gifts beyond the local church. To date we've served almost 100 performing artists, musicians, and songwriters and their churches in developing their ministry into viable, focused, sustainable efforts that leverage their talents, gifts, experiences, passions to the benefit of themselves and others.

In addition to JoyFul Noise Ministries duties, I play bass for a Southern Gospel vocal band, play on worship teams with my church and as a guest artist in some other churches, and currently produce for four Christian Music Ministry bands.
Favorite Music:
Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Nicole Nordeman, Sarah Groves, Hillsong, and Vinyard Worship, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Third Day, Passion, Paul Baloche, Lenny LeBlanc, Don Moen, Keith Green
Favorite Bible Verses / Passages:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" -Phil 4:13

"...seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
-Matt 6:33 and 34

A new Poll....

Hey, Folks....

I'm looking for some input.

I've set up a simple poll on worship music styles on my blog. Would you be willing to click on the link below to participate and help me gather some data for an upcoming article and seminar?

Feel free to comment...I used some pretty arbitrary descriptions so I know I've missed some different ways to characterize worship styles....please enlighten me if you have some other thoughts...

You can access my blog, JoyFul Noise Ministries here.

Thanks!

As I was thinking about "tips for singers", I thought back on "Directions for Singers" written by John Wesley for a Hymnal published in 1761. He was providing direction for how people ought to sings those "newfangled hymns"...a 1760's version of contemporary worship tunes...

I read through his work, thought about how we might express his thoughts today and came up with these seven "tips for Christian singers" Let me know what you think about… Continue

JOYFUL NOISE MINISTERIES sounds like a wonderful gift for christian artists who are trying to reach out with their music. God bless you for caring enough to offer your talents and giftings to help other christian artists get established. What a great ministry !!!!
