Worship Ministry Conflicts - Another Cause

Posted on July 21, 2011 at 4:11am 0 Comments

Some time back I talked about one of the causes of worship ministry conflicts, people placing different levels of priority on performance and participation. There is actually another cause of conflicts and misunderstanding in worship ministry, and it is how we see worship ministry through the eyes of our own personal giftings.

1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its…

Just Between You and God

Posted on March 16, 2011 at 1:58am 7 Comments

I would that every believer sing praises to God daily, not just on Sunday at church.

Psalm 92:1-2 (NKJV) - It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every…

Spiritual Metabolism & Digestion

Posted on March 14, 2011 at 2:30am 3 Comments

Something interesting happened to me. Some time back, I meet up with a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and he diagnosed me as having a very low metabolic rate. In TCM terminology, my body was too cold.

Now if you see from my Facebook pics how scrawny I am, and watch how I usually eat a lot (shoveling French fries down my throat like there's no tomorrow) and notice how difficult it is for me to sit still, you would understand why I was very skeptical of this… Continue

2 Tim 2:15 - Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (NKJV)

I love the small group ministry.

Whatever you call it at your church, Cell Group, Carecell, LifeGroup (at my church) or whatever, it's a great way for the people in your church… Continue

Recognizing Arrogance

Posted on February 25, 2011 at 4:07pm 2 Comments

This is the question I received via email.

"Should we recruit experienced worship leaders and musicians who would like to join our worship team from another church which we know they possess arrogance and think that they are better than the leaders of our church?"

Looking at the question, I think the answer is simple: No. Have nothing to do… Continue

The Bible is open

My mind and spirit renewed

Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

I've been thinking about bad poetry recently. After a while I decided that since I don't write… Continue

When You Meet Simon the Sorcerer

Posted on June 17, 2010 at 12:28am 2 Comments

May was the month I studied the Book of Acts. And when I looked into Acts 8 one day over dinner (I was eating by myself and flipped open my Bible for fun) some thoughts came to me.

Acts 8:9-11 (NIV) - Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, "This man is…

The Fallback Worship Song

Posted on May 26, 2010 at 1:47pm 21 Comments

If you ever study Old Testament worship, you will discover that the most popular worship song there is "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever." You will find that it appears at key points in Israel's history. For example;

1. When David brings the Ark into Jerusalem (1 Chr 16:34) and institutes a ministry of constant prayer and praise unto the LORD;

2. At the dedication of the Temple Solomon built unto the… Continue

Hey Junjie,

Last night I read a post of yours regarding prophetic worship (from few years ago).  It was excellent.  I plan on commenting on it and adding on to what you said.  (I'll have to find it again first! ...)

Bless you real good!
