Musical Gift(s):
Guitar, if necessary bass, keyboard (chords) and bg vocals
About Me:
Happily married father of three beautiful sons.

I am a freelance musician and teach guitar
(See my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Christchurch-New-Zealand/Renaissance-... and Renaissance Man Music Blog
http://johnmusicnz.wordpress.com.

For most of my working life I have been a crime intelligence analyst, forensic auditor and fraud investigator with music as a parallel (semi-professional) career.

Music, in all the things that I have been looking into as a seeker, has probably been the most convincing for me in my journey back home. Praise God and the lead pastors at Harmony for giving me an opportunity to be part of the worship team. After conversion - end 2009 I felt a strong calling that music was what I was meant to do as part of His plan for me. So, after prayer and with the support of my family, I dropped the fraud investigation business and started teaching music.

Most amazingly more and more students come in with a strong interest in playing Christian music. In all twenty five years before not one student ever showed the slightest. And now, many of them want just that. It is so fantastic when you see a student do a great job in a (youth) worship team.It feels like raising a small musical army for God.

I have been involved in music for about 25+ years (my oldest son keeps me reminding this old dude that it is almost thirty years) and for the past 16 months I have been a regular within the music ministry at Harmony.

My other interests are my family, making photos with my good old point and shoot, walking (and making pictures), blogging, cooking, law and ethics, theology, and more (see http://johndierckx.wordpress.com).
Favorite Music:
I would not be able to pin point it I like so much.
Favorite Bible Verses / Passages:
Psalms 37:5-6 Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.

Hey John, very nice to meet you. Hope you are OK down there in Christchurch!

I play bass and, if necessary, guitar... ;)

Your "Renaissance Man" nickname reminded me of an old 77's song from the '80s of the same name... back before sampling ruled...

Cheers,

Simon
