Acoustic drums in worship are a tough subject. So many places that I have been to try to use plexiglass cages and it totally destroys the sound of their mix. I think you are on the right track. It is very tough, because to do them justice you must m…

Get the Roland V, our church did! It was a battle at first, and we still use our acoustic drums for concerts, but the V's are much more adaptable especially for recording. We have a worship team that consists of about 50 people and they all have dif…

Hey there! I'm a newbie in this really nice site and the first thing I saw was this drum thread so I thought I'd comment. Cool. I play drums and love it! You have a neat setup on the mics there. I get the acoustic drums aesthetics thing. They look w…

Yeah I've heard great things about the improvements in the TD-20. Unfortunately, I don't think it's an option for us right now budget-wise. Is the smaller kit the Gretsch Catalina? I've seen those at Guitar Center lately. I'd love to hear if anyone…

I can't recall the name off hand, but I know our church bought a smaller jazz kit and it's really working well. Have you demo-ed the TD-20? A big difference, I'm told, especially when it comes to cymbals.

Hey Everyone, I'm stuck between electronic and acoustic drums. Here's the deal, we used a completely acoustic kit with mics and a plexi shield for 2 years in our current facility (holds about 300 people). We had the opportunity to borrow a Roland TD…

I've been leading worship very part time, but feel God's call to take it further. I'm attending Crown College in Minnesota this fall in their Worship Arts program which is geared for people who want to not only get into worship leading in the church…

I started off in a music program (not really specifically worship) at a Bible college but I ended up being frustrated studying classical music and loving my Bible classes. In the end I switched majors, dropped all music except private lessons and pl…

As someone who went to a secular school, and was originally a piano performance major/switched to a journalism major to a music minor here's my advice. If you go to a secular school, I don't advice in a degree in music performance. Unless you plan…

Looking forward to hearing the replies as well. I've had no formal training other than a year of Bible college many years ago, but have led worship for decades. Still, I find it difficult when looking for a paid position - seems they want to see the…

I have led worship in many contexts where it was just me and my acoustic guitar and I love the freedom that comes with it. My wife and I lead worship together sometimes with just our 2 guitars and voices and it certainly is great to have someone you…
