“I’m just longing for a pure heart, reflected in action and voice” – The Other 167
Grant June’s first single is an honest look into the Christian heart, comparing the relatively easy hour spent in church to the difficulties we often encounter during “the other 167” hours remaining in the week. We are called not only to “talk the talk”, but to boldly “walk the walk”…and as heard in Grant’s cries of “Oh Lord, stay with me”, we remember it isn’t always easy.
Grant’s new 7-song EP "Free For The Giving" dives deep into matters of love, faith, life and death. Speaking of both the joys and struggles of his walk with God, he finds a way to keep it human and real, yet non-preachy. This approach leads to songs that are heartfelt and accessible for “believers” as well as those that might still be searching.
Grant’s own attempt to “walk the walk” came when his father passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer. It was then that he decided to put his faith in the forefront of his life as well as his music. This led to the “purpose” of the album, stated in the title of “Free For The Giving” – what if it was “given away” so that 100% of all sales could go directly to charity? Research for cancer, autism, cystic fibrosis. The local food pantry, a homeless shelter, victims of Hurricane Sandy. The list of worthy causes is endless. It became not only a title and purpose for his record, but hopefully a simple idea that can grow into a movement.
“But there’s this faith in this unimaginable love.
It put me here, it put this song in my heart” – First Things First
