For those of us that have children, how old were your kids when they grasped what worship was. I remember last summer driving to church one day. My daughter, who was three at the time, asked where we were going. We told her that we were going to church because it was Sunday. She asked "worship?". We said that's right baby, we're going to worship Jesus. She then very matter of factly said "I worship!" and threw her hands up in the air and started to sing along to the Jeremy Camp album that was playing. Needless to say, a proud moment for us as parents. Does any one else have any similar stories to share?
Well, I am a firm believer that there are many forms worship takes. I have a 6 and a half year old that I recently discovered worships the Lord through drawing and coloring. I thought it was just something she was doing because she was bored, but one day in the car she started sobbing (you see, our church closed its doors this last Fall), saying between sobs, "How will we ever find a church where I get to color again?" God whispered to me that moment, that she wasn't zoning out while she was making art, she was tuning in. Bless my heart!
I love this! Jennifer, what you said about your daughter brought tears to my eyes. My daughter has an intellectual disability and her speech is very difficult to understand. She has been through much in her 9 short years, brain surgeries, illnesses, seizures and so much more that I couldn't begin to say. One day we were riding in the car and Jeremy Camp's There Will Be A Day came on, it was the first time I'd ever heard it. I really liked it so I turned it up and Rachel and I just listened and worshipped silently. A few days later she began to ask for, "No More Tears." Well, I had no idea what she was asking for and I tried the guessing game but I never got it right until about a week later it came on in the car and she was singing, "no more tears, no more pain, Jesus, no more tears, no more doctor, Jesus." Her little face upturned, hands stretched to the heavens singing her hearts desire to the Lord. Then and there I witnessed The Great Physician minister to my little one and give her hope of a future that is beyond imagination!
Oh, my goodness, Ann, what a beautiful thing to witness, what an encouragement to your heart. Praise the Lord for His never ending mercies and treasures He gives to us! That story is so inspiring. Thank you!
Jennifer
