WE ARE THE WORLD
hey everyone.. I just posted this same thing on my blog but wanted to get peoples input and thoughts on this same idea.....
So today I was listening to the radio and I heard the song WE ARE THE WORLD which was originally written by Michael Jackson. Well as most of you know that song was recently redid by a whole bunch of artist as a way to help raise money for the people of Haiti. First off I gotta say I absolutely love the song it is such a touching song, but as I was listening to it i began to think... WOW all these people, or "ARTISTS" as we call them are gathering together to do this song with one purpose and that is to help the people of Haiti, what a caring thing to do. I then begin to wonder why aren't we, as Christians, getting out there like this? I mean I know we have ministries and out reaches that are well known by both those of the faith and those who aren't, but if I remember correctly we, as CHRISTIANS, have ONE purpose as well and that is to serve the lord and spread his word reaching those who are lost in this world without him. Ok that's 2 purposes but you know what I mean LOL. Galatians 3:28 says, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how can that be, there are Jewish people and Greek people and white people, black, brown , yellow.. etc.... lol what this means is very simple... We are not defined by our skin color, accent, the cloths we wear etc.... we are all CHILDREN OF GOD, or as I like to call us, we are COG's. Now you may be wondering what does this have to do with the video.. IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH IT. See these groups of people gathered to make this video and song to reach out to help Haiti, and we need to do the same. We need to find ways weather its through our simple acts of LOVE or in a big open venue event or WHATEVER, we need to make the WORD of God known to REACH out to our community, state, nation, THE WORLD. we ARE the children and we ARE the world. We are CHILDREN of God who occupy and fill the WORLD that our God has created. This has totally got me stoked and I am ready to make that difference that we need to have in this world and to stop keepin GOD to myself and to break out and SHARE HIS LOVE with this world.. WHO'S DOWN??????????????????????

I'm with ya. I thought that's what we were doing though. Even though it's not in a mass effort, alot of Christians are doing it.
But the song you mentioned brought two thoughts.
1.http://helphaitilive.com/-Shaun Groves along with Compassion Int. is putting together two live concerts kinda like farm aid to benefit Haiti.
2. I don't like the lyrics of the song even though I like the premise. Why? Because of these lyrics-
"There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me"
There's no Jesus in those lyrics. Unfortunately, Mormons don't believe in Him so I can see why MJ didn't include Him in the help! -

i like the response.. but just to clarify a few things.
1. im not saying that the song is telling us to do this, i know that it doesnt reference God but the video was more of an inspiration that people gather for the cause jus like we gather
2. im not saying that as the church we dont reach out or that individual christians dont.. but in general statistically there are less amount of christians who do this and this blog was jus o be a word of encouragement... -
