Oh Lord, Won't You Help Me

by Keith T. Amano

Oh Lord, won't You help me
find my way
I'm sorry that I
have gone astray
I'm lost on my own
I can't make it alone
Let me follow You to a New Day
Oh Lord, won't You help me
find my way

Oh Lord, won't You help me
stand up strong
Won't you show me just where
I went wrong
Help me rise above
So I won't hurt those I love
I've been falling too far for too long
Oh Lord, won't You help me
stand up strong

Oh Lord, won't You help me
see the light
Let me feel the sun shine
Help me get through this night
My searching is through
Now all I see is You
And Your face is a beau-ti-ful sight
Oh Lord, won't You help me
see the light

Oh Lord, won't You help me
see the light

hey Keith, thanks for sharing.  very country-ish sounding :)  good, solid lyrics for people to sing and cry out to God, possibly at an altar call or communion time?   but since you posted asking for feedback, i'll throw in my 2 cents.  hopefully it'll encourage you as you continue to write and glorify the Father.  i like to look at lyrics in a progression, each verse us further along.  something to think about/consider, is switching verses 2 & 3.  so you'll be asking to see the light, THEN ask to stand up strong (maybe as a result of seeing the light)?   only other thought is having a bridge that thanks the Lord FOR helping, or for knowing that the Lord WILL help you in time?  again, just my 2 cents..  :)  thanks again for sharing. - bill

Hey Bill - thanks for those suggestions!  I'll play with that.  Yeah, I was trying to write something countryish for our bluegrass gospel band to try.  I don't think I have the right voice for it but needed to demo it anyway.  I see what you mean about the progression - I was actually thinking about leading up to the light but I see what you mean going the other way.  Thanks!

Aloha
