One night i was humming a melody, and we all hum at some point. I realized that I was humming a really good melody. As I went into my room to get ready for bed, lyrics started to flood my mind and my heart was telling me to write this down NOW. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, and started writing and writing. In about 10 minutes I had 3/4 of the song written down with all of the melody recorded on my cheap phone recorder. Two days later I finished the song and reflected on the song. I realized why this song was put on my heart. I want our generation to be a Mirror that reflects God's light. And I pray that one church, it would be our goal to be Mirrors for Christ.
Mirrors by Shong Vang
Verse:
You made a way for us
You sent Your only Son
You gave Your life to us so freely
The crown of thorns for us
Your Son upon that cross
In awe of You, we stand unworthy
Chorus:
Jesus Christ
The Sacrifice
You Saved our lives
You are Holy, You are Holy
Verse:
You shook the ground beneath
You tore the veil in two
You broke the barriers between us
You rose to life again
In victory You stand
Now we will live to tell Your story
Bridge:
May our lives be reflective of Your glory
May our lives be a symbol of Your hope
As we magnify the name of
Christ, The Lord
May our lives be committed to Your purpose
May our lives shine brighter than the sun
As we magnify the name of
Christ, The Lord

You must be pleased that your song didn't take you too long to write and of course it's particularly relevant to Easter time celebrations. I just love it when there is reference to the resurrection in a song - which makes it slightly outreach in theme - (after all no resurrection - no Christianity) and from there you go on to encourage us all to 'shine for the Lord' and go tell the story to the world, so lots coming out of the song. :)
Would you say it's a congregational praise and worship song or more of a 'performance' song? Only drawback I would point out is that it is a little long at 7 minutes and you would do well to knock at least two minutes from it. :)

Thank you for your feedback and yes, I did intend this to be a praise and worship song as opposed to a performance song, which is why the bridge to the song is so long. I used this Easter to introduce the song to my congregation, and I hope to actually use it in praise and worship soon too. My goal in life is to create worship songs that will be used by many worship leaders as they lead their congregations. I'm not too big on performance songs to be honest. Thank you for your honest input! God bless!

Permalink Reply by sHonGsTa on April 20, 2012 at 3:58am It is just the color William. Here is the guitar that was used in the video.
