Hey Everyone.
I saw this group to share songs and thought it would great to have some feedback on this particular one. It's pretty much from Proverbs 3 : 3 - 6. It's been working really well at Church thus far...

Thanks guys!

LEAD ME ON

VERSE
Would love and faithfulness never leave me
Your commands reside in my heart
All my days I seek to find Your wisdom
May Your ways Lord never depart

PRE CHORUS
But when my doubts and fears are there
May I know Lord none can compare, may I know Lord none can compare

CHORUS
I Will trust in You Lord with all my heart
and lean not on my own understanding
In all of my ways Lord I’ll acknowledge You Jesus
only You will lead me on

BRIDGE
I will trust in You Lord

HI Ben,

Thx for sharing the song. This is a beautiful song. Great guitaring too.
For me, the melody was a little laid back in the verse, but it picked up nicely in the pre-ch and the chorus. With that, you get a nice melodic built-up. My only feedback is that I found the 3rd line of the chorus, "In all of my ways Lord I’ll acknowledge You Jesus", a little difficult to follow and sing along. In specific,"In all of..." and "I'll acknow-...". Not sure how your church handles that line. Perhaps it's just me : ) Other than that, I do like the chorus. The bridge is effective in bringing across the emphasis of the song, though I was hoping to hear a little bit more of it.

Lyrically, you can't go wrong if you use Scripture. It's inspired by God himself : )
Wow that is beautiful! I love your vocals, guitar and just about everything.
I can see why it is working at church, it's just beautiful.
Since you asked for feedback even though it sounds quite finished to me, I kind of struggled with the verse and I even went to the word to see how it lined up with the verses theologically that is. God never leaves us and the way it's written makes me think that you are asking the Lord never to leave you May Your ways Lord never depart in particular. I think if you rephrased that and didn't worry about getting the rhythm [did I spell that right?] it would make better sense for me. Other than that, it is simply beautiful!!! thanks for the nice charts. I don't know if I could pull it off but I'd sure like to try!
Wow, very pretty!
Thanks for sharing!

Its so nice song thanks for sharing.I feel so excited after hearing songs of Jesus which are made with some situations and from core of heart.
I love it. Very soothing and full of worship. great job.
Thanks guys.. some helpful critique's in there. I apprecate your contributions hey. Peace
Ben, you sound like Sons of Korah !!

Beautiful.
Very well done. You guitar is very understated and your melody is haunting and melancoly. It puts me right into a worshipful state by listening to it.
That is beautiful. When I read the lyric I thought it was short, but your phrasing made it work and the duplication is perfect for congregation singing.
I loved this song, and given that it's also one of my favourite bible verse make no exception! It always shows raw talent & skills when someone can chant up a song straight from the passages of scripture, very moving & soul touching inspirational!

Keep it coming!

Humblemost,

Vyctor ~;)!
Ben, very good song. Beautiful melodies, and you have a great voice. Here's my 2 cents:

I would like to feel a little more push into your chorus. In my opinion, that's what a pre-chorus should do. Your pre-chorus comes to a little too much of a resolution. I would cut out the second "may I know Lord none can compare," and have the melody and chord push more into the chorus.

My second suggestion is really more of saying how I would write this, so take it or leave it. I appreciate how you're taking a scripture and really sticking literally to it. I would build on your title, "Lead me On," though. Many writers call this "writing to a title." I could hear "lead me on" being sung a few times with in a chorus. It would probably be a major re-write, though, and maybe it's just something to take away for future writing. This song is pretty good as it is.
Hi Ben. Absolutely gorgeous guitar and vocal work.
Wonderful melody to the song. I really enjoyed listening to it.

There are a few places in the lyric that could use some clarification/tweaking.

"Would love and faithfulness never leave me" - the 'would' doesn't make grammatical sense. Also, in the passage you are sourcing from, the writer is telling his son to hold onto love and faithfulness - to integrate them into his life, so the meaning is a little different from the way you want to use it in your song. Not a problem, you just need to adapt if further.
You could possibly say something like: " Your love and faithfulness always lead me"

"May Your ways Lord never depart" - another line that is not communicating clearly. It is sounding like you don't want the Lord's ways to depart. What that means, I'm not sure. Ways don't depart.

What about something like "From your ways Lord, I will not depart" or "From your ways Lord, may I not depart"

"May I know Lord none can compare, may I know Lord none can compare"
This is an incomplete thought. Perhaps 'none' is referring to doubts and fears, but 'none' can compare to what? This needs to be clarified to complete the train of thought.

No problems with the chorus.

I know you are trying to work from the verses in Proverbs, but allow yourself enough leeway to take the core ideas and shape them into verses that are as well-crafted as your music and melody. It's really close to being done, just a little polishing on the words.

I could totally hear this one on an album.
