Hey Guys! This is one of the original songs that my husband and I have written that we do in our services. We just recorded it in our make shift "studio" on a laptop at home so the quality isn't the best. Please check it out and let us know what you think! :)
I like this song a LOT - very fun, rocking ... and a pretty good recording for at-home. In fact, I could hear our worship band doing this song at our church!! Not sure how it would transpose to fit a lead female singer, but would be worth the try anyway! (And I don't say that lightly)
In the verses, first couple lines only, vocals were a bit flat. :) But I realize the huge range on the song means those are the basement notes for your husband. And I know how it is to record at home - for me, I am usually sitting or in some twisted position that doesn't allow for great support and all that.
I like the timely harmonizations, guitar riff, etc.
One thing to perhaps think about ... As is, the song seems like it could easily cross over to "secular" radio since there seems to be no direct mention of Jesus' name or God (that I noticed!!). Obviously, the statements made are very strong and someone would have to be a bit loopy to declare them about another human being, but there are a million love songs out there that do just that. So, you are at risk for the contingency out there who will chalk this up as another "love song to Jesus" that holds little weight as a "real" worship song. :) That said, I would still use this song in a praise and worship setting at our church! But you two, as the authors, have the power to revisit the lyrics and determine whether they will remain as is. Again, I may have missed something in the lyrics and don't have time for another listen. And incidentally, I just remembered that I wrote a song with a similar theme that has no direct mention of Jesus' name either!! Lol. So maybe I should do some revisiting or just shut my trap.
Overall - GR8 Song!
Thanks so much for your comments!! :) To say that you would do our song in your own services is such a huge compliment so thanks a million!! I think it could transition to a female lead....I can shoot you the chords and you can see what you think...haha I have that issue too with some of the mainstream stuff that's out right now that is originally male lead and I have to tweak it! all the guys seem to like jumping around five octaves in the same song! LOL Anyway, thanks again for taking time to listen....
Oh, I just want to add that I can see a congregation really belting out this chorus with you. This is really important b/c some rock/praise songs are too complicated to sing along with or there is some weird syncopation that requires someone to learn the song real well before they can sing along.
Hi Russell! Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I was having some trouble getting distortion when I tried to convert the file from a wav to an mp3 so that I could upload it here. I thought I fixed it, but I guess not! haha Anyway, the mixing seems to be the toughest thing for us and we have no mastering capability at home at this point. (although I agree both are very important) The home recording has definitely been a learning experience for us, and I'm pretty sure I have at least a few gray hairs from it now! :) Looks like we will end up using our home stuff for idea purposes and leave it to the pros who know what they are doing to do the final product in the near future...
