this is not a worship song by any means but it is God honoring. I wrote it a bunch a years ago and I just came across it. I am kind of liking it but have no idea what chords I used. Obviously it's in an open tuning. I never played it anywhere that I can remember, so this is it's debut.
Now if I could write like this again I would be very happy.

“Blinded by Ambition” by Bizzy Bender c2004

Blinded by Ambition

Suffocating every thought

Climbing the Everest of our lives

Sometimes we forget the cost - you gotta count the cost

Chorus:
So fix your eyes on the One who is higher

Fix your eyes on the One high above

Don’t let your heart be impaled by ambitions

Fix your eyes on the One who is Love

Ambition can be violent,

treacherous at times

Clawing our way to the top,

Never knowing when to stop – enough’s enough, you gotta stop

Sing chorus

Ambition can be fatal

affections and virtue may die

If our eyes are on the summit

the air is thin way up high - It’s hard to breath when you climb too high

Ambushed, bushwhacked, by your own ambition

Stand back, you’ve been attacked, at your own volition

Be wise, open your eyes, see your condition

Cause you’ve been blinded by, blinded by ambition

Wow, this is really good and I am not just saying that. It's really good.

Keep up the good work!
thank Eric for taking the time to listen and I am very glad you liked it.

May be you wrote that pretty long time back
but it is amazing to note that it is as good as new and true
because the one who prompted you to write
is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow

Slowly in reverence read these words over and over again
the Lord will suddenly reveal the melody of the song
george
thank you George. I pray the the Lord will remind me of the chords and tuning I used to write it with.
I had a ruptured aneurysm about 2 yrs ago and my memory has suffered because of that. I am grateful to be alive but I am missing more than a few pieces of my life, including my ability to write songs. I haven't written one of any merit since before my surgery in June 2007.
Very cool. One thing I like about you Bizzy is that you are not afraid to use different descriptive words in your songs. I love that about you. It makes your songs fun to listen to and read. Here are some things that I noticed while reading your lyrics:

"One high above" was already stated in the first line of the chorus. I would suggest you put a new image there.
"Ambition can be violent, treacherous at times, Clawing our way to the top," You are saying ambition can be violent (you are describing ambition) then you say"clawing our way to the top" in the same thought. I would maybe say "ambition can be violent, treacherous at times, it makes us claw our way to the top." I don't know if it would go with your melody.

Oh and bushwhacked is such a fun word. I can't wait to hear this.

I didn't realize that I didn't post the mp3
Sorry!
That hit home with me. I recently had a experience where I let my natural drive over run my ability level.
Now i find myself have to retreat and regroup so I can get the two closer toghether. great song
I like your lyrical choices. They are fresh and they paint pictures. It is a beautiful work.
