I wanted to introduce this topic to this group to get some dialog on discovering and playing sounds (singing included) that tap into the presence of the Lord. Without laying out an extensive Biblical foundation as some would demand, I want to go into the garden of Eden. There after Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit they heard the sound of the Lord coming into the garden and "hid themselves."

Was it his footsteps ? Does he hum ? Does he sing ? Does he sound like music because of who He is ? What did they hear? The bigger question is "what do we hear? "

I have had many experiences in the musical side of this. I am still learning about this topic (if you will). I know this one thing and probably most important is that "when I hear His sound" and play it or sing it.... something very powerful happens in the room. It goes beyond the worship experience. People just sit still and quiet in the music, it opens up new avenues of spontaneous playing and singing and when the music stops.....everyone and everything stops!

I presented this topic in one of my newsletters last fall. I was amazed by people who I thought knew how to connect with Him in worship. They challenged me on this as if it was not Biblcal. An ugly religious spirit manifested to which I thought to myself..... "oh wow!" The sound of the Lord brings out our religious side or unrepented strongholds. It was a great opportunity then in follow up to present "the sound of the Lord" and give further instruction on what to do in the presence of the Lord.

Another dimension to this topic was that I had a context through the structure of the musical team assembled to wait on God, hear the sound, play the sound and then the other musicians complimented the sound giving us a deep place like a deep well was being dug for everyone there to drink from. I know this is metaphorical, but I believe through the orchestartion of the Holy Spirit, it is easiy understood.

I could go on and on....perhaps someone can do that for me.

blessings,
Dave

Aloha Dave.
It's like deep calling unto deep. Or someone wanting to jump into the water and reveling in that tension. Then the joy of a call and response sonically and spiritually is the reward for the musician and the participants.
Keepin' the flame alive.

Hi Kimo!

Good choice of words ! I agree, when the musician or singer captures that sound.... all get to enjoy the heavenly presence. There is a simplicity in replicating what we hear. We can then revel in His sovereign visitation.

"Sound of the Lord" - What is it?

Simple answer? Heavenly sounds, melodies, rhythms that originate in the heavenly sphere that are recognized by someones heavenly sensitive ear. That sound is then reproduced through someone ( musician, singer or other) , in turn a witness occurs that this replicated sound is edifying for healing, deliverance and salvation. There are more than one dynamic that gives evidence that this sound is heavenly. All inspired music comes through heavenly hearing. Let those who have eyes to see and ears to hear bear witness of what the Spirit is saying.
